We have some massive news to share! We’ve successfully secured a huge investment for Ravenhill Park and the park cafe this year, and we can’t wait to see it all come to life.

Here’s a quick look at the fantastic upgrades heading your way very soon:

β˜• Cafe Makeover: We’re adding a brand-new fixed outdoor canopy, a new noticeboard, and a handy dog-tethering area so you can safely secure your pets while grabbing a cuppa!
πŸ› More Fun for Kids: A brilliant new embankment slide is being installed, alongside new picnic tables and park benches.
🚫🐢 Dog-Free Bowling Area: We're installing a new green fence and self-closing gates around the bowling green, plus brand-new accessible ramps and handrails.
πŸ› οΈ Park Restorations: Footpaths are being completely reinstated, the historic entrance pillars are being repaired, and a beautiful "Welcome to Ravenhill Park" archway sign is going up at the top Middle Road entrance!
πŸ’§ Fixing Drainage: We are tackling the long-standing drainage issues and adding fencing around the old amphitheatre/bandstand.



We are so proud to keep investing in our shared spaces to make our neighborhood a wonderful place to live – and none of this could be achieved without the wonderful Friends of Ravenhill Park who work so hard for the cafe and the community – thank you so much!

We are delighted to announce that working closely with Friends of Ravenhill Park we have secured Β£128,000 for further improvements at Ravenhill. We match funded a Community Investment Fund grant with our community budget. This work will include: accessible ramps onto the bowling green area; creation of a fenced-off dog-free zone; a canopy over the entrance for when the weather turns; a dog tethering area; new tables and benches; repairs to pathways; major work to resolve the drainage issue at the bandstand area; an embankment slide and notice board. Really pleasing to see that our heritage sign has been installed at Weig Fawr Playground in Cockett. Most people do not realise what an important industrial area this was with a very busy colliery and brick works. The treacherous Cockett Pond here (90 feet deep in places) took many lives until it was filled with rubble in 1959 and the greening process began. We salute local hero 15-year-old Keith John who lost his life after saving an 11-year-old from drowning.

We are delighted that new bollards have recently been installed outside Cadle Primary School! 🏫✨

We funded these colourful new additions using our local Community Budget to help keep the school pupils safe, prevent dangerous parking on the pavements, and brighten up the walk to school for the kids. πŸš—

I was down at Cave Street a few days ago looking at fencing options to allow pedestrians but stop motorbikes whizzing up the lane. I reported the overgrowth to our brilliant Clean Team and they have been working hard already. What a difference … and they will be back soon to finish off.
