🇬🇧🇺🇸 25 YEARS ON - WE REMEMBER 9/11 🇺🇸

Today, on the 25th Anniversary of the Attacks of 11 September 2001, I stand with the people of the United States of America and remember all those innocent souls who lost their lives on that horrific day.

My thoughts are also with the families, friends and loved ones they left behind, the survivors, emergency responders and all those who continue to carry the physical or mental scars of what happened.

For me, today also brings back very personal memories.

Just two months after the attacks, as a serving British Soldier, I deployed to Afghanistan as part of the international response and in support of our American allies. I was proud then to stand alongside our allies in the face of terrorism, and 25 years later, I stand with them again.

Today is first and foremost about remembrance. About the lives lost, the extraordinary bravery witnessed in the darkest of circumstances, and families whose lives changed forever.

The friendship between the United Kingdom and the United States has endured through some of history’s most difficult moments. As allies, we must continue to stand together against terrorism, violent extremism and aggression, and in defence of the freedoms and values we share.

To our American friends and allies: today I think of your loss, your people and your sacrifice.

I will remember them. We will remember them.

🇬🇧 United in Remembrance. 🇺🇸

☀️ Many thanks to South Swindon Parish Council, Sadie, and all whom helped organise this year’s Badbury Park Summer Festival! 🎈🌳

It was a superb and worthwhile event, with brilliant stalls, entertainment, food & drink, and children’s activities. Community Get-togethers like this are a fantastic way to socialise, meet old and new friends, and remind us of the beautiful place and area we live in! 🌞 🏡 I particularly enjoyed meeting new & longstanding Residents; and those who traveled in from the wider Ward!

Thanks to Andrew Cripps, Councillor Cathy Williamson , and Cllr. James Head for coming along to support and enjoy the event; it was good to catch up with you all 😊
