Is the govt. trading greenbelt for Infrastructure? More on the BH legal teams approach to building on greenbelt
By overruling local and neighbourhood plans, the government is making a mockery of its avowed strategy to protect the greenbelt. The BH legal team are already trying the strategy again with Chris Young, the successful barrister in the Effingham case, specifically targeting greenbelt development. You can watch his Masterclass seminar on exploiting loopholes in the greenbelt at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iM8CVagJopQ and seminar notes are also attached) As he says, "The good news is in the last 2-3 years, a whole series of Inspectors have allowed appeals for various forms of residential development on greenfield land in the Green Belt.."
What has prompted this change amongst inspectors, and why do they tend to appear in Tory heartlands? (Cheadle Hume, in Cheshire Kent, Surrey, to name but a few. More is covered in the seminar notes) Is it possible that the government is encouraging a more flexible approach from inspectors and lowering the bar for building on greenbelt when infrastructure elements are included in the project? We think this is very likely and deserving of further investigation. In our view, it is time the Tories spent a little less time and resources investing in the Red Wall and more on the Blue Hedgerows. They may discover that developers are ripping up the hedgerows and, along with it, support for the Tory party in its traditional heartlands.
