A message from Keiron;

Very interesting week this week. And another learning curve in this journey of being a councillor.

Frustration that I have not been able to achieve everything I wanted to. Also frustration that our remit & responsibility doesn’t cover everything to solve all the email requests that come into me.

However the week has also been productive, in so far as setting things up for the coming weeks that I really hope will make a difference. I and colleagues are working on several projects. We are all elected to make a difference & the feeling of delivering and doing a good job is very important to me.

There will be things I get right. There will certainly be things that I get wrong. Please just know that I will always do the very best I can. If I am unable to secure a result that someone desires, I will be as frustrated as anyone, and it will never be because we haven’t tried hard enough.

In other news, I personally never met my colleague in Rayleigh West who got elected on May 7th, and I thought I knew most people across Essex! But when the stories about him blew up, I was absolutely livid. All of us in Essex have worked exceptionally hard and I can honestly say that the team is the most decent bunch of people you could meet. You have to congratulate the Tories who ran a great campaign & made the most of the unexpected opportunity to win on Thursday.

Busy this morning!

Across 4 of our 5 divisions of South Benfleet, Thundersley, Canvey East & Canvey West - 12 roads will shortly get repair works. Many parts of Essex will benefit similarly.

Many more roads will follow soon afterwards, this time to include Hadleigh.

Why did each councillor who participated select these roads? Because each of us are deeply embedded in our local communities. We speak to our residents all the time, know much of what our areas need, and we were voted to deliver them. All 4 of us know there is much more to do, and this is just the start.

Any suggestions of favouritism are silly and desperate. We don’t pre-determine in that fashion. We were asked to select our roads based on what we felt were most needed & would deliver the most positive impact quickly.

Would it have been better to not participate so NO roads got actioned? Our residents would have rightly wondered why we got elected only to not take opportunities when they came.

If anyone did not agree with that process, or wished to publicly announce they weren’t participating - that would have been far more effective BEFORE the deadline on Friday.

We look forward to seeing the results - and ensuring the positive effects are felt by all 🙏

Us 4 councillors from Castle Point who got elected, owe everything to this team!

This total bunch of nutters pounded the streets with us over many weeks - and last night was our chance to say thank you for everything they have done.

From Golden Shazza to Turbo Jen, 4 Questions Karon to Golden Ticket Jane, from Cake Sue to Double S, from Niki Lauda to Joanna Lumley, and Howlin’ Laud Hope & Lady Hope (sadly absent last night), and others who were not here last night, this team is the best anyone could ask for.

To have a small part in these people who didn’t know each other before this journey started, coming together, and becoming this tight-knit family, will always be my proudest achievement.
