We’ve done it again…Doocey Group are Women in Utilities finalists! 👏

We’re proud to share that Doocey Group has been shortlisted as a Finalist in the Women in Utilities Awards 2026 in the Community Outreach category 🎉

Last year was a standout moment for us, taking home the award for ‘Ask Cara’. Even more exciting, we’ve been told that this year’s brand new Award was inspired by our previous entry… something we’re incredibly proud of.

This year, our submission shines a spotlight on the impact of our pre-apprenticeship social value programme, alongside our continued efforts to encourage and support more women into the utilities infrastructure industry.

We’re also delighted to be supporting the event as sponsors this year, raising our profile and standing alongside other leading organisations across the utilities sector.

Meet Jake 👷‍♂️

Jake Albert is one of our most recent apprentice intakes here at Doocey Group.

Around a year ago, Jake had just completed Level 1 & 2 in Bricklaying and entry-level Architecture course at Walsall College.

Like many others, he expected to move straight into a role but after 6 months of trying, he kept hitting the same barrier…
👉 “No experience.”

Everything changed when Jake attended our Doocey Group Open Day last year. Since then:
✔ He secured an apprenticeship with us in January
✔ He’s gaining hands-on, real-world experience
✔ And he’s already making great progress within the team

Jake’s story is exactly why we run our Open Day.

Project update – Cresswell Borehole Pumping Station, Stoke-on-Trent 🚧

Works are progressing well on site at Cresswell BPS, where we are delivering infrastructure works alongside Barrett Civil Engineering, Marriott Drilling Group and Severn Trent.

Our team is currently installing 200mm, 250mm and 350mm pipework, connecting three boreholes back to the existing temporary filtration building.

Where we’re at 👇
We are in the process of completing the pipework from Borehole 1, enabling water extraction ahead of the end of May milestone.

This project has required a real team effort from the outset. With short notice to mobilise, the team have worked efficiently to procure materials, coordinate deliveries and keep the programme on track, ensuring all fittings arrived on site in time to maintain progress.

Another strong couple of days on site delivering essential water infrastructure 💧

Day 1:
The team excavated 6m of carriageway and 1m of grass verge to locate the existing water main for connection.
Access was safely maintained at all times using a metal road plate, keeping both the site and local residents moving.

Day 2:
Building on that progress, the team completed two connections into a 4” PVC water main and installed two 7m, 34mm barrier water services, running through to the site boundary.

With everything in place, the site is now ready for the developer to take on the water supply.

Efficient planning, minimal disruption and a great effort from the team to keep things moving 👏

⚡ EV Charging upgrade - Tesco Penn Road, Wolverhampton ⚡

We’ve recently completed an LV cable installation at Tesco Express on Penn Road, Wolverhampton, providing an upgraded low voltage supply to support new EV charging facilities.

To minimise disruption to the local road network, our team worked over the bank holiday weekend, completing the programme ahead of schedule. We also carried out an overnight crossing at the store entrance and exit, ensuring there was no impact on the business or its customers. ✅

A great effort by the team to deliver safely, efficiently and with the end user in mind.

🚧 New Case Study Live 🚧

Take a look at our latest project: Hampton Loade Station (Phase 2), a key scheme delivered by our team to support essential infrastructure works.

This project involved the installation of a new 500mm polyethylene (PE) pump-to-waste main, designed to enhance network resilience and improve operational flexibility within the regional water supply infrastructure. 💧

Working within a live environment, the scheme required careful planning, coordination and a strong focus on safety throughout. Our teams carried out complex excavation, installation and connection works, all while managing tight deadlines and adapting to challenges on site.

Through effective collaboration and a proactive approach, we ensured the works were delivered efficiently, safely and to a high standard - keeping the project on track and minimising disruption.
