We’ll start planting at Higher Comfort Nature Reserve at 10am.

We've got a fantastic project to save Marsh Fritillary butterflies locally.
Look out for us on ITV Westcountry News at 6pm.

We are working to save some of Britain's rarest butterflies. Our priority area contains two colonies of marsh fritillary butterflies. They have become isolated, due to habitat loss between the two sites. We intend improve habitat connection between the two sites, by providing 10,000 Devil’s-bit sc...

Violet Oil Beetles, found on Higher Comfort nature reserve.
They like species-rich grassland and woodland edges, which are exactly the habitats we're developing on the nature reserve. They parasitise solitary bees, so are an indicator of a healthy wild bee population.

We are carrying out a survey of our new nature reserve on the 12th of April from 1pm to 5pm.
This is the first stage in planning the management of the site. We are keen to involve members of the local community at every stage and would like to invite anyone interested to come along and help or observe the surveying.
The survey will be lead by Paul Seymour, who works for Devon Biodiversity Records Centre. His role includes surveying county wildlife sites as well as managing or assisting on an array of other survey projects.
The aim of the day will be to establish what habitats and species are present on and immediately adjacent to the site, in order to maximise habitat value and connectivity. It will also provide a baseline survey, allowing us to monitor progress as the site is developed.
The location is ///hypnotist.games.humid, EX36 4SA, SS 8420 2076
For more details about the site see: https://devonculm.org.uk/higher-comfort/
The land is boggy and brambly in places, so wear suitable footwear. No dogs please.
We look forward to seeing you on the day.
There will be tea and cake.
