Food waste recycling is an easy way to do your bit for the planet. ๐ŸŒŽ

You just need a small indoor caddy to collect food scraps in your kitchen, as well as a secure outdoor container to transfer food waste into every few days.

Using the locking system prevents smells, flies and foxes.

Visit foodsnotrubbish.co.uk to find out more and order your caddy from your local council. โ™ป๏ธ

Donโ€™t bin that brush! ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿชฅ

You might be surprised at which items in your home contain lithium-ion batteries โ€“ smartphones, laptops, power tools, and even your electric toothbrush! ๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ“ฑ

If it can be recharged, chances are it has a lithium-ion battery. ๐Ÿ”‹

The problem is that lithium-ion batteries are really tricky to dispose of. They contain a lot of chemicals and if they are damaged or crushed, they can easily overheat and catch fire. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Thatโ€™s why itโ€™s vital that you DONโ€™T put any electronic or rechargeable items in your rubbish bin at home. ๐Ÿšซ Make sure you take them to one of our recycling centres, or an on-street e-waste bank. โœ…

Loving these gorgeous pictures of our amazing Family Day last weekend, the busiest one yet! ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿ˜

Families dropped into EcoPark House to take part in a range of fun sustainability-focused activities like a woodworking class, upcycled art workshops and even making bubble blowers from plastic bottles. ๐ŸŽจโ™ป๏ธ

Kids and parents alike donned their high-vis to get a special guest tour of the recycling facility, going behind the scenes to get a first-hand look at what happens to north Londonโ€™s rubbish. ๐Ÿฆบ

It was really special to see the kids having such a great time and to get wonderful feedback from the families. โค๏ธ A big thanks to the community groups who helped make it happen: , and New Tribe. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Weโ€™ll run another Family Day in the wintertime so keep your eyes peeled for that one! ๐Ÿ‘€

With the extreme hot weather weโ€™ve been experiencing in the UK, fire safety is on everyoneโ€™s minds right now. ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿš’

Did you know that batteries can pose a serious fire risk at waste facilities? ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Electronic items with lithium-ion batteries โ€“ like smartphones, power tools or even your electric toothbrush! โ€“ can reach up to 800 degrees when crushed or overheated. If they get damaged in our waste trucks or waste facilities, they can catch fire very easily. ๐Ÿ“ฑ๐Ÿ’ป

If you need to dispose of batteries or electrical items, make sure you donโ€™t put them in your bin at home. Bring them to one of our recycling centres, or an on-street e-waste bin. โœ…

Eggs, carrots, even olive oil โ€“ at Nourished Communities, you can pick up all these items without needing single-use plastics. ๐Ÿฅš๐Ÿฅ•๐Ÿถ

How? By bringing your own packaging.

As founder Rollo explains, at refill shops like Nourished Communities, you can bring in your own reusable containers and bags. This not only cuts down on waste, but helps you save money by allowing you to buy only what you need โ€“ and nothing more.
