Turners Hill Parish Council Welcome to the page for Turners Hill Parish Council.

14/05/2026

Please be advised that to allow for the repairs to the B2110 Turners Hill / East Street Embankment, works are planned to start on 1 June 2026 and last approx five weeks until 3 July 2026, but noting the planned start date of these works are dependant upon a utilities diversion and a geotechnical survey.
To enable these repair works to be done safely a short length of the B2110 Turners Hill Road across the culvert will be required to be fully closed requiring a 11 mile diversion (via Turners Hill, Crawley Down and East Grinstead) using appropriate B class or higher roads as shown below, noting that a local (non-HGV access) via the C320 Vowels Lane will still be available. Vehicle access to properties along Turners Hill Road / East Street will still be avaliable, but will not be a through route.

Parents urged to get their applications in for West Sussex secondary school paces for 2026

Applications for secondary school places in West Sussex for September 2026 are now open and parents are being urged to get their applications in before the deadline of Friday 31 October 2026, when the deadline for applications closes,
Councillor Jacquie Russell, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Learning said: “Our priority is to ensure all young people have access to education which helps them to achieve their potential.
“In West Sussex we successfully place nearly 97% of pupils in one of their three preferred schools and we are urging parents to get their applications in by the time the deadline closes to ensure their choices are considered.
“To make the process as simple as possible all the information you need to apply is available on our website. Additional support is available at our libraries across the county and there is the option to complete a paper version of the form if you don’t have access to the online application.
“I encourage parents and carers to thoroughly read through all the application information on our website. It is also important to look on school websites or contact schools directly to find out about their admissions policies and open evenings for prospective students when considering preferences.”
The easiest way to apply is online via West Sussex County Council’s Website. The process is quick and simple to do, and you will receive an automatic confirmation when your application has been submitted.
Applications close on Friday 31 October 2025, so it is important applications are made on time for the best chance of being offered one of your preferred places.
Free use of computers with internet access is available in all West Sussex libraries, parents and carers can visit and use them without booking. The library service also offers digital support which includes help with filling in online forms, on 0330 222 3455.
If you are unable to apply online, please request a form through the post by calling 03330 142903. The Pupil Admissions Team can also be contacted via this number. They will be able to answer any questions about the admission process before applications are made.
Important information to consider when making an application:
· Parents and carers are strongly encouraged to apply for three schools and list them in order of preference
· Parents and carers should select the catchment school (if applicable) as part of their application for it to be considered
· Living in a school’s catchment area does not guarantee a child a place at that school
· If you do miss the deadline, you must still submit an application form, as a child will not automatically be allocated a school

For further information please contact the news desk on 0330 222 8090 or email [email protected].

Apply to start Year 7 at secondary school in September 2026.

London to Brighton Cycle Ride
Sunday 14th September

We would strongly recommend avoiding Turners Hill Road for travel south as it will have traffic control points on the B2028 Turners Hill Road to allow cyclists to turn right into Wallage Lane and traffic light control at the crossroads in Turners Hill which will be very busy at peak times and delays should be expected from 07:00 to 15:00, in addition to the time taken to negotiate the cyclists on the route.

The route continues south through Ardingly and Haywards Heath to reach the famous climb over Ditchling Beacon, which is closed throughout the day to give riders access to Brighton. The roads along length of the route will be busier than usual, delays are likely travelling in the direction of cyclists and alternative routes should allow easier access.

See map of the route through West & East Sussex. The full course can be seen at: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/32193313
