Ey up, Yorkshire! 👋 Happy Yorkshire Day!

Today we’re celebrating everything that makes God’s Own County rey't good: proper tea, giant puddings and the absolute legends in our Reserves, Cadets, and the Armed Forces community.

Balancing a civilian job or school with training takes a massive amount of Yorkshire grit (and probably a few million brews🍵 ). Whether they're marching across the Moors or keeping the peace at camp, they do us proud.

🪖Give us a like or drop a comment if you know a local Reservist or Cadet who deserves a gold star

Officer Cadets have had a busy summer in the Netherlands on Exercise Fallowlands Resolve 🇬🇧 🪖 🇳🇱

More than 200 Yorkshire university students spent the first two weeks of the season in the Netherlands, training alongside Dutch military cadets.

Working in mixed British and Dutch platoons, they developed leadership, resilience and decision-making in realistic field conditions, while strengthening international partnerships and learning from different approaches to military training.

It's an experience that goes far beyond the classroom, building skills that will last throughout their careers.

⏩️Enhance your student experience and check out an Officer Training Regiment at a university near you!
Representatives from York Detachment - Leeds UOTC Yorkshire URNU will be on site at Freshers Fairs to chat more about opportunities and training offered to Officer Cadets.

Exams finished. Laptops closed. For over 200 Yorkshire university students, summer meant two weeks in the Netherlands conducting live infantry training alongside Dutch military cadets.

🎖The International Four Day Marches Nijmegen, or The Vierdaagse

The 'Walk of the World' is the largest multiple-day marching event in the world, with tens of thousands of participants coming together in Nijmegen, Netherlands in mid-July.

Originally a military training event for the Dutch infantry, since 1928 it has attracted Armed Forces personnel from other countries. The United Kingdom started its participation in 1950.

40,000+ finishers successfully completed the challenging four-day 30/40km or 50km route...including some exceptional cadets and CFAVs from South and West Wing who proudly represented YORKSHIRE RAFAC on the global stage!

Congratulations to you all on your amazing achievement, hard work and tireless preparation earning you the much coveted Nijmegen medal!
Great work everyone.

Shout outs:
📣Flt Lt Vicky Docherty (Wing Road Marching Officer) completed her impressive 4th Nijmegen, leading FS Marsh 148 (Barnsley) Squadron Air Cadets and Cpl Thomas 59 Huddersfield Squadron Air Training Corps through the event alongside the Cumbria and Lancashire Wing team.
📣FS Marsh and Cpl Thomas, who have now officially been awarded their Gold Road Marching Badges for this milestone! 🏅
📣 Adult Sergeant Louis Webb completed the demanding civilian 50km routes, marching alongside the SWY team for the final stretches and stepping up to provide vital first aid and leadership to teams on the trail.
📣 Cadet Sergeant Statham 2008 Bawtry Sqn ATC tackled the civilian 40km route, becoming only the second cadet currently within the Wing to complete the Nijmegen Marches twice!

From paying their respects at the Oosterbeek Commonwealth War Graves to soaking up the incredible atmosphere in Nijmegen town, the team represented the Wing and RAFAC with total distinction.
