At the Finance and Governance Committee meeting on 26 May, members discussed the proposed Tudor Park crossing and agreed the Council should continue exploring how it could support improvements to pedestrian safety in the area.

Members also approved two small income generation opportunities:
• Installing mini advertising banners on posts (town centre) for the Visitor Centre
• Providing hanging basket watering for Bath Place Trading Association

Ruby Turner takes to the stage this evening as BlueTone Festival comes to life in Vivary Park 🎶✨

It’s the start of an incredible weekend of live music, with Curtis Stigers, The Brand New Heavies and more still to come.

Don’t forget, there’s also a fantastic FREE public arena with a live stage, bar, food court and public toilets for everyone to enjoy. Tickets for the main festival are still available via the their website www.bluetone-festival.co.uk

Please note: Taunton Town Council toilets in Vivary Park will be closed for the duration of the festival, disabled loo access will be available on Friday 29 whilst the Coffee Station is open. Public toilets are available within the free arena area.

Wessex Water will be holding drop-in sessions at Taunton Library, Paul Street, Taunton TA1 3XZ on Wednesday 3 June to answer all of your water related questions. These sessions will run between 10am-12pm and 1pm-2pm.

💷 £8 per hour (Apprentice NMW)
🕒 37 hours per week, Mon–Fri (incl. 1 day at college) | Fixed term 2 years | TTC Depot
📅 Closing date: Thursday 28 May 2026, 11.59pm

You’ll gain practical experience in building maintenance, groundskeeping, litter picking, cleaning, and general repairs across council sites.

We’re proud to say that our most recent Maintenance Apprentice finished his time with us and moved into paid employment, highlighting the value of this opportunity.

💮☀️Taunton is looking blooming lovely in the sunshine!

Taunton Town Council is adding plenty of summer cheer, with our hanging baskets and planters around the town and bunting overhead, helping brighten the streets for residents, visitors and businesses alike.

We know lots of residents have already been sharing photos of the displays and we love seeing them! There are even more baskets along Bridge Street and Station Road too, but they weren't on this morning's dog walk route

Keep an eye out for your favourite floral spot around town!

It was wonderful to welcome our friends from Lisieux to Taunton last week ✨

During the visit, the Mayor took part in a number of events including the official welcome, a business breakfast, civic dinner, wreath placing and farewell celebrations 🤝

The Mayor also enjoyed meeting Deputy Mayor Corrine Lecourt and sharing experiences about their civic roles and the similar challenges both towns are facing.

The Mayor said:

“As Honorary President of the Taunton - Lisieux Twinning Link, it was an absolute pleasure to meet and spend time with our visitors. I had plenty of opportunities to put to good use the French I last studied at school many years ago. It was an honour to meet Deputy Mayor Corrine Lecourt, we spent time chatting about our official roles and how both our towns are facing similar issues.”
