It's Household Support Fund Awareness Week - Please share to help those in need 📤🔗

Throughout this week we need your help to raise awareness of the available for those struggling in Wyre.

Since January 2022, we have awarded around £1.2million to our most vulnerable residents, helping those who have been worst affected by the increases in household energy prices and cost of living pressures and we want to make sure that everyone who needs support, knows how to get it 🤗

• you live in Wyre and are a council tax payer; and
• you are a couple or single adult with dependent children in respect of whom you receive child benefit; and
• you do not claim any other social benefits (for example Universal Credit, Income Support, Job Seekers Allowance, Tax credits); and
• you are responsible for the payment of the household energy bills in respect of your home; and
• you have less than £16,000 in savings; and
• your total annual gross household income is below £40,000 for a single person and £52,000 for a couple

Or:

From 4 May 2023, voters in England will need to show photo ID to vote at polling stations in the next local elections.

You can use any of the following accepted forms of photo ID when voting at a polling station. Passport, Driving licence, A Blue Badge, Bus Pass, Proof of age Identity.

You can still use your photo ID if it's out of date, as long as it looks like you.

The name on your ID should be the same name you used to register to vote.

If you need more information on this. I will be more than happy to help further.

Its coming to a Post Box near you.

His Majesty The King's Royal Cypher has been unveiled by Buckingham Palace this evening.

The Cypher was among three designed for His Majesty by the College of Arms. It displays His Majesty's initial - C - intertwined with R for Rex, Latin for King.

III is within the letter R, all in gold, to signify Charles III with the Tudor crown at the pinnacle of the Cypher. A Scottish version features the Scottish Crown and was approved by Lord Lyon King of Arms.

Many thanks to The Royalist website.

I am truly saddened to learn of the passing of Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II, at the age of 96. My thoughts are with the Royal Family at this sad time.

Yesterday, the 17th August, we received a report from Barclay's Bank in Lancaster that a 94 year old lady was in the branch requesting a withdrawal to the value of £2,200. This was after she received an unexpected call from a person purporting to be from the bank and requesting the cash. Thankfully, banking protocol kicked in and the transaction was prevented.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not withdraw cash in this or a similar situation (such as claiming to be from the police)! IT IS A SCAM!

If you do receive a call, obtain all of the caller's details, thank them for their call and hang up. Then you must call your branch on a recognised number. If you do not know you bank's number, it will be freely available on search engines or any correspondence you may have recently received from your bank.

This is a particularly heinous crime which targets elderly or vulnerable people. Adult children, please be aware and look after your parents.

Take care,
Wyre Neighbourhood Policing Team.

I have had a few residents contact me recently raising their concerns with weeding and how the pavements are turning green. I understand there has been a delay with the start of this as it usually happens in March. I am pleased to see the team out and about completing the first round, the second round will commence in August/September. If you come across any issues please either message me or report it directly to Wyre Council on https://www.wyre.gov.uk/xfp/form/144.
