SEFF remembers Adrian Ismay who was murdered by New IRA terrorists 10 years ago today.
Adrian was a 52-year-old, Prison Officer from a Protestant background who sadly passed away in hospital after New IRA terrorists tried to murder him by planting a bomb under his vehicle in hillsborough drive just off the Woodstock Rd in East Belfast.
The bomb partially exploded causing injuries to this legs. Sadly he passed away 11 days after the bombing. He was set up by a colleague he volunteered with and who was later convicted of his murder.
The PSNI stated that a post-mortem examination had showed that Adrian had died as a "direct result of the injuries" he received in the explosion.
On 27th November 2020, a man was sentenced to a minimum of 22 years for his part in the murder.
SEFF’s thoughts and prayers are with all innocents impacted by the murder of Adrian.
