Take a step back in time and stay in our beautiful cabins, just a stones throw from Usk Castle ruins. Usk Castle has been in the Humphreys family for over 100 years and is a enchanting and unique place. Usk itself is a lovely town to visit, and has a great local community with lots of small businesses. Tom decided to set up Castle Knights in 2012, to share a corner of his family home with families

, couples and anyone with an appreciation for history and a love of the outdoors. The site has a cosy woodland atmosphere and is well equipped with a purpose built toilet block and extensive kitchen facilities. In recent years he has discovered Bob the Yurt who lovingly crafted some of our first cabins on site- the beautiful Shepherds Cabin, Yurt and Dragonette which are truly unique and thoroughly Welsh! Latest additions include the Nook and the Lodge in 2021. The site has hosted several family parties and group events- the best bit is seeing people enjoy the place we love. Last night we hosted Red Fox Cycling and their group of cyclists travelling to Green Man!

It was great to see so many happy campers and cyclists enjoying the site together! Especially after their long ride which started from Bristol Temple Meads earlier that morning!

We hope they had a great pit stop!

As we've had so many new visitors to the campsite and our socials, we thought we'd introduce the team!

So here's the first "Meet the Team Monday" post!

First up, the man of mystery with many surprising skills... Tom.

Tom founded Castle Knights in 2012, he wanted to share the wonders of the campsite with friends, families and new visitors!

Tom was lucky enough to grow up amongst the castle grounds and after falling in love with the outdoors and nature. He decided to create this campsite right next to the castle walls.

He isn't just the boss and founder, he's a man with hidden talents and skills!

You'll usually find his smiley face around site and hands full with tools. He's always trying to keep up with site maintenance or creating something new for guests to enjoy!

Whether he's busy upgrading the loos, popping up new activities for the kids or lending a hand with a broom! He's always got a smile on his face!

You'll usually find him followed by two little ones!

Tom was also the mastermind behind Glyndwr Fort!

The last two photo's were taken by his daughter!

Tom wears many hats! Whether it be fixing things around the campsite, working on the family farm or with wood in the saw mill. His skills are endless and even spread further away from Usk!

Here he is playing adrenaline ju**ie climbing a very, VERY high mountain!

You'll see Tom and his family around the campsite, so feel free to say hello if you see him!

Next weeks "Meet the Team Monday" post will be on Tom's wife Laura!

These two are both superheroes, juggling many jobs and skills! So check in next week to meet more of the Castle Knight's crew!

It's our favourite time of year! The campsite is full of sweet, dark blackberries. They grow right by the campsite trees and plenty ready to pick.

A perfect morning treat for campers or evening snack!

Top tips!
- Look near the sunny edge of the trees.
- Pick only the plump, dark, soft berries
- Give them a wash before eating.
- Leave the red ones! They aren't ready yet.

Our doors are open and beds made, for another exclusive hire this weekend. So let's introduce the glamping accommodations again!

First up we have The Lodge, a beautiful accommodation for any couple! Situated right next to the castle walls.

Inside one of the most inviting beds on site!

Next up the fantastical Glyndwr Fort, live like a medieval royal family. With its double bed and set of bunk beds for the whole family to enjoy!

A bed inviting enough for a king and queen!

Followed by the majestic Dragonette, perfect for a family of three!

Where your little ones dreams will be filled of magical dragons after checking out this woodwork.

Double bed and single bunk so you don't need to compromise on floor space!

(Although just a couple staying in this one, this weekend!)

After that we have the yurt, a firm favourite with alot of returning families!

Giving them the opportunity to sleep under the stars, gazing up from their bed into the open sky! (Weather permitting of course)

With a super comfortable double bed and two singles, so the whole family can enjoy!

Next up we have the Shepherd's Cabin, a truly unique accommodation for a couple!

With its glorious woodwork, beautiful colour scheme and natural light it's a popular choice!

Just look at how stunning the colours and bed look! Perfect for relaxing, listening to nature and enjoying the peace and tranquility around the site.

After the cabin we have The Nook, another unique and welcoming accommodation ready for a couple.

It's located next to the castle walls too, which provides some wonderful shade keeping it nice and cool.

The Nook has a glorious bed, nice and light to help you wake up naturally. The best way to wake in our opinion!

And last but not least Tom's Barrel! A one of a kind glamping accommodation. Built by the owner of Castle Knights himself!

A truly inviting stay, with its beautiful wooden interior, light colours and the option to make up a small bed for a little one!

Tom's Barrel is great for a couple or family of three. You can just make up the small single at bedtime if required.

You'll have a perfect sleep, feeling cosy and snug in this one!

Whilst we await another exclusive hire here at Castle Knights, we thought we'd show you the Shepherd's Cabin!

It's perfect for couples! A beautifully designed glamping accommodation full of colour and character!

It has a wood burning stove and small kitchenette with just enough equipment provided for your morning cuppa! To enhance that glamping experience!

It's beautiful with silver or gold standard bedding provided and has the perfect view of the campsite.

Our favourite spot to sit on the steps, doors open and listen to the bird song whilst taking in the quiet surroundings!

With Usk Castle right next door, it would be rude not to share this amazing place with our campsite guests!

So when you book a stay with us, you also get the chance to explore this incredible castle.

You have your own access to the Inner Ward, to look around and explore.

Just a few little rules to follow.
Be sure to keep an eye on little ones, it is an old castle after all! So children must not be left unsupervised and make sure you don't access after dark.

It's a beautiful sight and added bonus, so don't delay and book a stay!
