Erratic driving highlights thieves to Op Wolverine officers

Patrick McDonagh, 31 [dob 02/11/1988] of no fixed abode pled guilty at Uxbridge Magistrates Court to Driving with no licence, Driving with No Insurance, Possession of Cannabis, Making off without payment, Going equipped for theft, Driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent and John Ward, 21 [dob 14/03/1998] of Brabazon Road, Hounslow plead guilty to Going equipped for theft, Possession of cannabis, Being carried in a stolen vehicle, Making off without payment.

The court heard that on Tuesday, 10 December 2019 officers from Op Wolverine were on routine patrol in the Heston area. Their attention was drawn to a Silver Hyundai. The vehicle entered Brabazon Road, Heston at speed and was driving erratically. The vehicle attempted to mount the kerb but was blocked in by a lamp-post and the unmarked Police vehicle.

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) showed that it was in fact displaying incorrect registration plates and the vehicle itself was stolen by means of burglary. A further set of registration plates were found inside the vehicle and these were linked to the theft of 100 litres of diesel from a Tesco Petrol Station.

McDonagh and Ward were arrested at the scene for various theft related offences.

They were sentenced as follows:

McDonagh - Disqualified from driving for 12 months, participate in a 30 day community order, £212 in fines and £63.45 costs to Tesco in relation to the stolen fuel
Ward – Fined £382, ordered to pay £63.45 compensation to Tesco in relation to the stolen fuel.

Inspector Dan Thompson, Operation Wolverine said “This is another great example of proactive policing, preventing crime & arresting those intent on committing crime. These are determined individuals who simply have no regard for the public or the police, we are absolutely committed to targeting these individuals who cause misery to the lives of others”

Operation Aguarico

Officers from across the West Area Basic command Unit, along with Hounslow Council, took part in the execution of thirteen warrants in Hounslow on Tuesday 10 December.

The warrants were conducted. They focused on properties and suspects believed to be involved in cuckooing, whereby drug dealers target vulnerable people, exploit them, and move into their property to use as a location to prepare and supply drugs.

This large scale operation, resulted in five men being charged;

• Mohammed Hassan, 37, from Isleworth was charged with holding a person in slavery or solitude, GBH, false imprisonment, affray, criminal damage and two counts of perverting the course of justice.

• Abdifatah Ali, 35, from Hounslow was charged with holding a person in slavery or solitude

• Zennub Lodhi, 24, from Chiswick was charged with false imprisonment

• Hicham Brahimi, 26, from Hounslow was charged with holding a person in slavery or solitude

• Abdul Salam, 21, from Hounslow was charged with intimidating a witness and ABH

All, apart from Zennub Lodhi, were remanded by the court on 11 December.

Supported by teams from Hounslow Council, this joint operation has meant that a prolific drugs line has been disrupted and a large quantity of drugs have been removed from our streets.

Superintendent Duncan Slade, West Area CID said: “This operation has been a joint effort by officers from the West Area BCU and Hounslow Council with the aim of disrupting an established drugs line within the three boroughs. Those involved have targeted and intimidated vulnerable residents of Hounslow through fear or use of violence, moving into their homes to establish a base of operation to distribute drugs across the West of London and further afield.

Cllr Katherine Dunne, Cabinet Member for Communities and Workforce at Hounslow Council said: “Many congratulations to the police and all those involved in bringing down this gang of criminals in this hugely successful operation."
