Hillingdon's waste service wins team of the year award - Hillingdon Council

A huge well done and congratulations to our waste and recycling service who won the Best Team of the Year Award at this year's Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee awards (LARAC).
At the height of the pandemic, while some councils suspended parts of their waste services, our waste and recycling team worked jointly with colleagues in the passenger transport team to ensure weekly waste collections continued and crews were socially distanced and protected.

WE ARE HERE FOR YOU

Free online groups for new and expectant dads during Covid 19.

Dads have a critical impact on babies, but during the Covid-19 pandemic, fathers face significant extra challenges.

Many dads are being excluded from NHS appointments, scans or early labor, and access to health visitors or other family support is limited. That's why were teaming up with 'Best Beginnings' to run small online groups for dad's, under a Barnardo's programme funded by the Department for Education.

Each group will meet weekly, online, for three sessions with two experienced facilitators. These friendly sessions will connect you to other dad's during the pandemic.

We will talk about top tips for managing stress, taking care of yourself and your baby's mum, birth, bonding with your baby, breastfeeding, finances and your relationship. The sessions will provide lots of information and resources.

Here's the link for dads to find out more and register for the sessions: bit.ly/GetBBSupportHere. Do please pass it on to men who might benefit (and/or to mum's, who could share with their children's fathers).

See Hear Respond is a partnership to help children, young people and families cope with the Covid-19 crisis.

Good Morning Trick or Treaters - Our countdown to Half Term has begun! 🎃
Let’s make some lolly-stick spider webs!
You will need :
• 3 Lolly sticks for each web
• Glue
• Coloured paint or felt tips
• A ball of wool
• Optional plastic spiders!
Paint or colour in your lolly sticks, we like white black and orange.
Take two lolly sticks and make a cross, glue them together then place the last lolly stick on top.
Wind your wool through and around the sticks to make a web – don’t worry if it looks messy – it’s all good fun!
If you’ve got some plastic spiders or bugs why not glue them on as decorations?
You could turn them into hanging decorations by adding a small length of wool to the top, or place them about the house as they are.
