Cllr Jane Palmer, Cabinet Member for Social Care, Health and Wellbeing, joined Year 5 pupils from Whiteheath Junior School in Ruislip today to give drivers a lesson on switching off their engines when they are parked to help reduce pollution as part of an idling action project.

Drivers in the borough face an £80 fine if they leave their car engine running while parked for more than five minutes. The pupils went car-to-car handing out leaflets and speaking with drivers about the dangers of idling, which can increase harmful emissions and affect the development of young lungs.

The Parish Church at Harlington!
Hello. Someone has dumped old building materials down Marshall Drive, please could you send the street cleansing team? Many thanks.
Hi there. Very sorry but it seems there is more rubbish down Marshall Drive, Hayes again. I think it is where the rubbish bags have been ripped open so there is food waste and nappies. Could you please send a cleaning team? Thanks!
My visit to Harmondsworth Barn!
Don’t spit in Uxbridge. I honestly didn’t know it was a thing. Getting over a flu and had phlegm. Also missed the drain by a cm(which is what I was aiming for). Got a ticket. Lesson learned. Cool environmental officer. Kind of happy this happened.
Hi. There is lots of rubbish dumped down Marshall Drive, UB4 0SN. Can you please send someone to clean it up as it has now been there for over a week. Thank you.
Is everything that you're hearing and reading about the Climate Crisis making you anxious, but you don't know what you can do about it?Perhaps you'd like to get involved in changing things but don't know how? Yes, the more you learn, the more you can adapt your own lifestyle - fly and drive less, eat less meat, plant some trees, change your investments - but individual actions will only go so far unless our leaders adopt progressive policies that fully acknowledge that we have a climate emergency. The solutions to the climate crisis are out there and people across the country and across the world are already building them. The most powerful way we can respond to climate change is by working together where we live to build solutions, and then joining our communities together at key moments to push for big national change. Friends of the Earth are setting up Climate Action Groups across the country. Hillingdon Friends of the Earth (your local group) has registered as a Climate Action Group. On 28 January we’ll spend some time working out what climate action might look like in Hillingdon and what we can do together. How you get involved will be up to you, no-one will put any pressure on you. Just come along and be part of the solution. https://facebook.com/events/s/hillingdon-climate-action-laun/443485466365747/?ti=icl
