Not all strength is loud.

Young parenthood can feel overwhelming in ways people rarely talk about.

This carousel reflects the everyday reality, the pressure, the adjustment, and the quiet resilience it takes to keep going while raising a child.

There’s a kind of loneliness that can come with young parenting that is difficult to explain unless you’ve lived it.

This carousel is a small reminder that support, understanding, and connection matter more than we sometimes realise.

You do not have to carry everything alone.

📢 Sutton parents and carers, your voice matters!

The Department for Education’s new paper, Every Child Achieving and Thriving, says that every local area must create a Local SEND Reform Plan.

Sutton Council is now leading the development of Sutton’s SEND Reform Plan alongside partners from health, social care, education, and childcare, but the most important voices are those of children, young people, and their families. 💙

If you are a parent or carer of a child or young person with SEND, please take a few minutes to share your experiences, views, and priorities. Your feedback will help shape future SEND support and services across Sutton.

Together, we can help create a system where every child can achieve and thrive. 🌟

Please complete the form below and share this post with other Sutton families who may wish to contribute.

Young mothers deserve the same kindness they so freely give to others. 🤍

Motherhood can be beautiful, exhausting, overwhelming, and lonely all at once. This is your reminder that self-compassion is not selfish, but necessary.

Be gentle with yourself, too.

A beautiful reminder that our senses shape how we experience the world 💚 Thank you to everyone who attended our sensory workshop and followed this series to the end!

Picture this: someone's pen is clicking across the room.

To one person, it's barely noticeable, just background noise 😐
To another, it's distracting and slightly irritating.
To someone else, it's genuinely distressing, like nails on a chalkboard.

And for another person? It's actually pleasant, almost musical
Same sound but four completely different experiences.

This is auditory processing, and it's one of the most misunderstood aspects of neurodiversity.

When someone says a noise is "too loud" or "unbearable," they're not being dramatic. Their nervous system is genuinely processing that sound differently. Sensory defensiveness and seeking is real because certain sounds can feel satisfying or regulating.

There is no objectively correct way to hear the world.

The next time someone covers their ears, asks for quiet, or seems distracted by a sound you can barely hear, believe them. Their experience is real💚

The smell of a hospital, freshly baked cupcakes or a specific cleaning product.

Did your whole body just react to one of those or any scent?

Scent is the only sense that connects directly to the brain's limbic system, the part responsible for memory and emotion. This means a smell can trigger a full emotional response before your conscious mind even catches up.
For some people, the smell of disinfectant signals safety and clean spaces, and for someone who spent time in a hospital during a frightening experience, that same smell can trigger anxiety, grief, or dread.

Neither response is irrational, they are deeply human.

This is why we can't assume what environments will feel "comfortable" for everyone. A scented candle in a therapy room, a strong perfume in a classroom or a cafeteria smell in a school hallway.

Sensory experiences are personal, and they carry history.
What's a scent that immediately takes you somewhere?
