Reform UK Walsall are implementing a dress code for council meeting which includes requiring permission to wear a poppy, a crucifix, or a Union Jack pin ‼️

While we wholeheartedly agree that councillors must dress professionally to respect the office they hold and the public who elected them, this goes way too far. We are not a nanny state.

Reports suggest that Councillor Elaine Williams, leader of Reform in Walsall, is following FIFA guidelines. But we all remember when FIFA told English players they weren't allowed to wear poppies!

Well, we for one will NOT be seeking any permission to wear our poppies. We will wear our poppies with pride, and we challenge anyone who tries to undermine that.

Isn't it ironic? The fallen sacrificed everything to give us our freedoms and now we are being asked to seek permission just to honour them.

Just try and stop us 🌺✝️🇬🇧

The Labour Mayor of the West Midlands is making big changes to the way buses operate across the West Midlands.

Walsall is a Borough that relies heavily on the bus network, more than anywhere else in the West Midlands and yet the Reform administration failed to pledge to protect our buses ❌

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO KEEP WILLENHALL AND BLOXWICH FIRE STATIONS OPERATIONAL 24/7 🚒

Plans are currently being made to close Willenhall and Bloxwich Fire Stations overnight, only leaving them open between 10am - 10pm🧯

Fires do not stop at 10pm 🔥

This summer has highlighted how vital our local fire stations and firefighters are to our communities. We need an accessible and robust fire service in the West Midlands to respond to fires like those we’ve seen across the Borough of Walsall🧑‍🚒

We’re calling on West Midlands Fire Service to retain both stations as CORE stations, providing 24/7 operational fire cover to our communities and to relieve pressure on neighbouring stations such as Aldridge.

When the Conservatives were in control of Walsall Council we worked hard to deliver a Community Diagnostic Centre right here in the town 🩺 🏥

Reform have now LOST this vital health centre to Wolverhampton and have run away from any accountability.

Walsall residents are now going to have to travel to the other side of the Black Country when we already had a plan for this right on our doorstep.

Our health services are not secure under Reform!

We were pleased to attend last night’s Green Belt meeting. The strength of feeling in the room was clear and shared by communities right across the Borough.

We stand united with residents against the Labour Government’s top-down housing targets.

Our housing targets must be reconsidered and Green Belt sites must be removed from any plans ❌

We will continue to stand with residents and fight to protect our green belt and communities 🌳

❗️Council officers confirm that Reform leadership misled the public about the Local Plan

At last night’s council meeting, Walsall Council officers explicitly confirmed Regulation 18 was purely a consultation phase. It is an invitation for residents to give feedback - it is NOT a "done deal."

This directly contradicts claims made by the Reform Council Leader who tried to pass off the consultation phase as the final plan.

Now that officers have explicitly confirmed this local plan is Reform's decision, what are they actually going to do to defend our greenbelt instead of passing the buck?

Reform have been caught out. Instead of standing up for our greenbelt and pushing back on housing targets, they’re dodging accountability and blaming others to avoid scrutiny for their own decisions

👉 Walsall Reform now need to correct the record and apologise for misleading residents about what Regulation 18 actually is.

We joined local residents outside Walsall Town Hall last night to stand up for our precious Green Belt and the strength of feeling was impossible to ignore 🌳🍃

There was a fantastic turnout, with residents coming together to make it clear that they are deeply concerned about the future of our green spaces and the impact further development could have on our communities and infrastructure.

The Reform Council now needs to stand up to the Labour Government, listen to the strength of feeling across Walsall and send a strong message that our Green Belt cannot simply be sacrificed.

We will continue to stand alongside residents and fight to protect the green spaces that make up our Borough 🌳
