This week’s Core Text: Handa’s Surprise 🧺

This week we’ve been bringing Handa’s Surprise to life through our fruit filled invitations to learning! 🌿☀️

Our little learners have been exploring colours, textures and tastes through playful, hands-on experiences, peeling, printing, sorting, balancing and tasting as they followed Handa’s journey to her friend🍍🍌🥭

We’ve been developing our fine motor skills through fruit printing and tape rescue tuff trays, exploring early maths through pattern making and basket sorting, and building our language and communication as we retold the story and described the fruits. 🧡🌍🗣️

This week we’ve been bringing Rosie’s Walk to life through our autumn-themed invitations to learning! 🌿🍁

Our little learners have been exploring prepositions through playful, hands-on experiences — moving over, under, around, through, past and across as they followed Rosie’s journey. 🐔👣

We’ve also been noticing the changes in our environment, exploring autumn colours, leaves, textures and natural resources, while developing our language, communication, physical skills and understanding of the world. 🍂🌰🌳

September at Forest School is pure magic! ✨

As summer gently turns into autumn, we’ve been noticing all the wonderful changes happening around us. Today, we explored the story Rosie’s Walk and took our learning outdoors!
We walked through the forest, discovering nature along the way and talking about how the leaves are beginning to change colour and how the apples have grown on the trees. 🍁🍏
Inspired by Rosie’s journey, we used prepositional language such as over, under, through and around as we threaded leaves and sticks into our own woodland pictures. 🌿🪵
A beautiful day of storytelling, exploration, language and learning in nature! 💚🍂

To mark our 5 year Anniversary since opening Little Wings Big Dreams Nursery we wanted to do something to give back to the community whilst getting everyone together.

Today our team will be running the Muddy Race for Life 5k in Blackheath to raise funds for the amazing Cancer Research.
