Applications are now open for the Kent Community Waste Prevention Fund.

Funded by the Kent Resource Partnership and delivered by Kent County Council, the programme offers grants of £500–£5,000 to support community organisations developing innovative projects that reduce household waste through prevention, reuse and repair. Successful applicants will also have access to environmental sustainability training through the Low Carbon Kent Training Centre.

If your organisation works with local communities and has an idea that could help reduce waste and create lasting environmental benefits, we encourage you to apply.

⚠️ It has been reported to us that, despite the constant warnings from the government over the weekend about the risk of wildfires , people are continuing to use BBQs and fires in our parks and open spaces. Please stop!

❤️‍🔥 The current hot and dry conditions mean there's an increased risk of wildfires and with that comes a risk to homes and other buildings. When enjoying our parks and open spaces, please do your part to protect these valuable areas by fully extinguishing ci******es and not lighting barbecues or open fires. Please keep our green spaces safe.

With warmer weather and an increase in wildfires, we all have a part to play in protecting our open spaces.

Please help reduce the risk by:
🔥 Only using barbecues in your own garden or in designated BBQ areas.
🚭 Disposing of ci******es safely and never dropping them on the ground.
🗑️ Taking your litter home, especially glass bottles, which can reflect sunlight and start fires.

A few simple actions can help prevent devastating fires and protect our countryside, wildlife and communities.

We will be sending out paper copies of the survey to all Kings Hill residents from mid-August. These can be dropped into the Town Council office in Kings Hill Community Centre.

Kings Hill Town Council is exploring the potential acquisition of Liberty Square to secure long-term community ownership and ensure that any income generated is reinvested back into Kings Hill for the benefit of residents.

This could provide an opportunity to:
🏡 Keep a key community asset in local ownership
💚 Reinvest income into local services, facilities and events
🛍️ Protect and enhance the vitality of Kings Hill
🌱 Support sustainable economic growth and community wellbeing
🌟 Create a lasting legacy for future generations

No final decision has been made. Before considering the next steps, the Town Council wants to hear your views.
