STOP THE CITY LAND GRAB - see the passion in the video, it's worth a watch...

Brilliant turnout from across Leicestershire to stand up for our democracy.

Andy Burnham - you said that you were going to tour the UK and "listen" - then please come to and and listen to the voters.

If the Governments own consultation analysis results show only 7% favourable to the Labour-led Leicester City Council proposal for Local Government Reorganisation whereas 83% were not in favour and 70% were positive about the proposal, clearly consultations and democracy counts for very little with this Government.

Says quite a lot!

Two councils. Two Ofsted inspections. Two very different verdicts.

In July 2024, Ofsted rated Leicestershire County Council's children's services Outstanding; praising strong leadership and the progress of children in care and care leavers.

Two months later, inspectors visited Leicester City Council. Every single area they examined: leadership, children needing help and protection, children in care, and care leavers was judged to require improvement.

This is the choice now being forced on families across Leicestershire 🦊

Not an abstract line on a map, but who looks after a vulnerable child when things go wrong.

Really important to keep the register up to date and possibly never more so as Local Government Reorganisation starts to take shape.

Next May (2027) we will be asked to vote in, what is referred to as "The Shadow Unitary Authority" elections.

Whoever you choose to represent you will be required to steer all our communities, support our current councils and represent our residents ahead of the new Unitary Authorities becoming the new Local Government Authorities (Vesting Date currently 1st April 2028) with responsibility for everything that our Local Government provides.

We are a democracy and everyone's vote really does matter.

🗳️ Letters will be going out to some households from today, 5 August, as we continue our annual canvass to keep our electoral register records up-to-date and ensure those eligible can exercise their right to vote. If you receive a letter, simply follow the instructions and if you need to respond please do so by 25 August.

De-silting of Cosby Brook is pushed back towards the end of August to protect the nesting birds and fledglings.

No work will be carried out until the Ecology Officer gives the go-ahead.
