Two weeks on from the election, Reform councillors are already hard at work dealing with casework across the wards we were elected to represent.
We’ve met with Council officers and have been shocked by the financial position of the Council. The situation is far worse than we expected. However, we have a plan, and we’ll be outlining it in more detail over the coming weeks.
We’ve also received fantastic support from residents, with one constituent describing us as “a breath of fresh air.” Comments like that remind us exactly why we stood for election in the first place.
We know there is a huge amount of work ahead. Too many people feel they have been ignored and let down by Labour councillors who were either unwilling or unable to address their concerns. We are determined to change that.
We won’t be distracted by those who quote us out of context or make unfounded claims about Reform members. We knew there would be personal attacks from people with a lot to lose, but our focus remains on fighting for local residents and delivering on the promises we made.
Our commitment goes beyond the wards we directly represent. We will support residents across the borough wherever we can. For example, we have already taken up enquiries from Highfield ward residents regarding fly-tipping on the former railway line near the Hale Road junction, and we will be pursuing these concerns with the relevant Council departments.
Change does not happen overnight, but we are listening, we are acting, and we are getting things done.
We’re on the case. 🩵
