The path at Plantation Gates will be closed from Monday 22nd June - Friday 26th June while resin works are completed.

Please use alternate routes into the park during this time.

🏆🪱 What an absolutely incredible community event last weekend at Aspull Worm Charming Championship.

🙏 Huge thank you to Chief Wormer Ruth and all the amazing volunteers.

🤩 It was fantastic to see such a big turnout with all 50 plots selling out and more having to be added. Thanks to everyone who came a long to support and take part.

🍒⚪️ Everyone was delighted to see Wigan Warriors star Zach Eckersley, who came along to present the trophies. The club always support the event and huge thanks to Zach for giving his time on a Saturday.

🥧 Thanks also to Latics’ mascot Crusty the Pie for his appearance too.

🪱 Looking forward to next year already.

💜💛 A Great Night for a Great Cause 💛💜

Wigan and Leigh Hospice is close to the hearts of so many people across our borough, and that's why we have decided to organise a special fundraising event.

We wanted to make it affordable for everyone while raising much-needed funds for two fantastic local causes.

🎟 Tickets are just £15 each (limited availability)

Your ticket includes:

✅ A full evening of entertainment
✅ Special guests Matty Peet from Wigan Warriors and Gary Caldwell from Wigan Athletic (subject to fixture commitments)

As well as supporting Wigan and Leigh Hospice, the event will also provide much-needed funds for Aspull Royal British Legion, making it a real win-win for our community.

⚽️ An absolutely fantastic day for Aspull Juniors FC presentation day at Haigh Barn 💚💛

👏A huge well done to the club committee and all the volunteers for putting on such a brilliant day with face painting, bouncy castle, pizza and trophy presentations for all the teams.

🏆 Lots to celebrate this year with some fantastic achievements across the age groups.

🙏 Thanks to all the coaches, parents and well done to all the young people who played this season for this brilliant club. It is wonderful to have the opportunities for our young people to participate in sport in our local areas.

👍 We were really pleased to support them today and throughout the season. Chris has been pleased to support the club since is started in 1997 and it’s amazing to see it go from strength to strength.

👀 Looking forward to seeing what next season brings!

With temperatures set to reach nearly 30C across the Wigan Borough over the weekend, and into Monday, it may be tempting to 'take a dip' in open water.

Open waterways might look safe, but they can be deceptively deep, hide dangers like underwater objects, and cause cold water shock.

If you see someone in trouble in the water? Remember - float to live.
📞 - Phone 999 to get help
🗣️ - Tell them to stay calm and float on their back
🛟 - Throw rescue equipment to help them float until emergency services arrive.

Never enter the water to attempt a rescue. Knowing what to do can save a life.
