Regardless of where we come from, what language we speak, or which faith we follow, most of us want the same simple things in life: safety, dignity, opportunity, and a sense of belonging.

Across race, religion, and borders, people dream of raising their families in peace, being treated with respect, and having the chance to build a better future. Unity doesn’t mean sameness- it means recognising our shared humanity and standing together for the values that connect us all. That’s what this weekend’s campaign of hope was about and I was proud to join friends to campaign for HOPE not hate in Wolverhampton.

I campaigned for hope because I believe our communities deserve better - and change starts with us.

As Fairtrade Fortnight draws to a close, it was great to attend a special event at Wolverhampton College today - a powerful reminder of how our everyday choices can support farmers and workers around the world.

Wolverhampton continues to lead by example, reaffirming its commitment as a Fairtrade City and spearheaded by my wonderful friend, Julia Farrell. From schools and universities to local businesses and faith groups, the city is united in promoting ethical sourcing, sustainability, and justice in global trade.

It was great to catch up with Warinder Juss MP too to hear about how all three of the city’s MPs are doing their bit for Fairtrade.

I love to see my city championing fairness and dignity for those who grow the food and materials we rely on. Let’s keep the momentum going—every purchase is a chance to make a difference.

And, sometimes mum life also means that Abel joins in campaigning nowadays. Start em’ young I say 😂❤️🌍

Last week, I had the privilege of attending the Wolverhampton Young Citizen of the Year 2025 — and even more proudly, having served on the organising committee behind it for a few years!

This event celebrates the incredible young people in our city who are making a real difference through leadership, community service, and resilience. From grassroots changemakers to quiet heroes, every nominee reminded us of the power of youth to shape a better future.

It was even more special this year to be joined by my colleagues from JLR, and former colleagues from Safran who have supported this event over the years.

It’s one of my favourite events of the year. With all the division we see in the world right now, quite often with young people getting an unfairly bad reputation, I’m truly honoured to be part of something that spotlights local stories, and creates a space where young voices were not just heard, but celebrated.

Congratulations to all the nominees and winners — Wolverhampton is lucky to have you 💛

A final well done to all of my colleagues who organised this event this year (and graciously gave me this year off whilst on maternity)! Simon Archer, Amanda Evans, Chris Allen, Mel Eves & everyone else behind the scenes.

I’ve been raising money for Forgotten Women charity with the most unforgettable woman, my beautiful friend and colleague, Julie Rahman.

I’m ending this weekend with a heart that is so full as we got together with our families to complete our sponsored walk for the charity.

The funds raised will be to help the charity get life-saving aid to children and families in Gaza.

Nearly all children in Gaza are at imminent risk of famine. Over 1 million children in Gaza are in need of mental health support. 5,500 babies, or 180 per day, are due to be born in the next 30 days. More than 600,000 children are now trapped in Rafah with nowhere else to flee.

Many of you will know I’ve visited the region to do aid work several times, these are real children, living real lives with real hopes and dreams.

Though Julie and I come from different faiths, we are united by a shared goal: to help children who are facing unimaginable hardship. We walked together, talked together, and were reminded that we have far more in common than that which divides us.

If you can donate even just a few pounds to help get aid to the region, just click here: https://www.launchgood.com/v4/campaign/gaza_needs_us__help_beverley_and_julie_raise_vital_aid_for_gaza

Thank you to everyone who has supported us, donated, and helped spread the word. Your generosity will go directly toward helping those who need it most.
