If you enjoy using the 16 miles of footpaths and bridleways in Corfe Mullen or the wider network of rights of way across Dorset, this weekend is your last chance to comment on Dorset Council’s proposed improvement plan for the next ten years. Issues that you may wish to comment on include:
• The accessibility and condition of local footpaths and bridleways.
• Opportunities to improve links between communities and greenspaces.
• Barriers that make routes difficult to use.
• Priorities for future maintenance and investment.
• How the network can better support active travel, recreation and wellbeing.

Dorset Council, as the Local Highway Authority, has a statutory duty under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 to produce a Rights of Way Improvement Plan. This plan fulfils that duty while setting a broader and more ambitious vision for how Dorset’s public rights of way network will contribute to the county’s communities, economy and environment over the next decade.

🚫💩 Please Pick Up After Your Dog. Before our grounds team can strim grass they have to pick up and bag dog waste that has been left ! If dog waste is strimmed, it can cover the operative and equipment — it's unpleasant, unsafe, and unfair.

👉 Please be considerate — not just for our hardworking team, but for everyone who enjoys the recreation ground. There are bins provided, so please use them.

Let’s keep our green spaces clean and safe for all. 🌳🐾

If you spot an abandoned Beryl bike, maybe vandalised or not left in an approved bay, you can report it via email to [email protected] or via the Beryl app. To help Beryl retrieve the bike, please include the unlock ID or frame number as well as its location - a What3Words.com reference can be useful to pinpoint where the bike is.

Join Corfe Mullen Library for a bird-themed story time, then get crafty and make your own bird feeder to take home and hang in your garden.

Our Grounds Team have been giving the fruit trees at the Recreation Ground orchard some early autumn care.

It’s all part of keeping the orchard healthy and looking its best throughout the seasons. 🌳🍐

🌳 Looking after Corfe Mullen’s trees for generations to come 🌿

From Monday 5 October 2026, specialist arboricultural contractors will be carrying out carefully planned tree management works across several Corfe Mullen Town Council sites.

The works follow the Council’s independent three-yearly Tree Risk Assessment 2026, which assessed 156 individual trees and 23 tree groups across Springdale Road Open Space, Corfe Mullen Recreation Ground, the Cemetery, Allotments, Towers Way Green Space and Henbury View Play Area.

The survey found that the vast majority of trees are in good condition. A small number have been identified for management to help keep our public spaces safe, healthy and accessible.

🌱 Safety and biodiversity together

The Council is committed to protecting Corfe Mullen’s natural environment alongside maintaining public safety. Wherever it is safe and appropriate, trees that need to be removed will be retained as standing habitat poles or monoliths, providing valuable habitats for insects, birds and other wildlife.
Deadwood and timber may also be retained on site where appropriate, helping to create natural habitats and support local biodiversity.

🌳 Planting for the future

For every tree removed as part of these essential safety works, replacement saplings will be planted, helping to maintain and enhance Corfe Mullen’s tree stock for future generations.
Temporary access restrictions may be required at some locations while the works are carried out safely.

Grants to Local Organisations - Applications Now Open!

Are you part of a local community group, charity or not-for-profit organisation that could benefit from some financial support for a project or activity in Corfe Mullen?

Corfe Mullen Town Council’s Grants Programme is now open for applications. Grants are available to help support projects that benefit the local community, whether that’s providing a service, improving quality of life, enhancing the environment or promoting Corfe Mullen. 🌳🤝

The Council has an £11,500 of its budget for 2026/27 remaining, with applications for the second round of funding must be received by:

Our Grounds Team have been busy giving some of the benches across our Council-owned sites a bit of a refresh.

They’ve been sanding them back and giving them a fresh coat of paint, helping to keep them looking good and ready for residents to enjoy. 🌳
