INCIDENT | Firefighters are attending a building fire in Checkley Lane, near Bridgemere. Local residents are advised to keep their doors and windows closed due to a large amount of smoke. Please avoid the area while the incident is being dealt with.

Our control room is receiving multiple calls about this incident due to the smoke plume. If you see a large plume of smoke, please be assured that we are aware of the incident and are at the scene.

Throughout the summer months officers are working with pubs, bars and partners to ensure Chester is safe for everyone to visit and enjoy.

With the lighter nights now here and race season about to start, police have launched the Keeping Chester Safe – With you. For you campaign to remind the public that Chester is a safe place to visit, and support is on hand if you need it.

Working with key partners including venues and licensing, officers will be visible across the city and proactively tackling drugs, disorderly behaviour and violence against women and girls (VAWG) to ensure everyone feels safe during their night out.
