This has been an important week for beleaguered Wirral Council.
On Tuesday, Councillors voted to set a budget for the next year - including how taxes would have to rise and spending on things like roads, schools and care for the vulnerable.
We also put forward a fully-funded plan that would provide real, direct help to local shopping areas, such as Heswall. Sadly, there weren't enough councillors present who voted for this.
At the same meeting, the council's external auditors addressed councillors directly, telling them how the authority had to improve.
On Wednesday, a majority of councillors rejected Labour's plan to centralise all decision making in the hands of a few Labour Councillors.
And on Thursday, councillors reviewed how playing fields and green spaces (including those in Heswall, Gayton and Barnston) could be improved.
Your Reform Councillors did not attend these meetings or cast any votes on behalf of the people who elected them in 2023. There were, instead, three empty seats.
We would like to apologise to the people of Heswall, Gayton and Barnston for this.
Wirral's Conservatives and News for Heswall and Gayton are working to ensure normal service is resumed shortly.
