Shrapnel

Shrapnel Shrapnel's mission is to provide sick and injured troops with high spec mobility equipment to match their specific needs. Need something?

Shrapnel aims to provide the best of equipment for the best of men (and women). We are only a tiny organisation but we're all about giving back to those who risked all for us. Contact us and we'll help if we can. Need a cause to raise money for? We could do with your help! We operate from a conservatory in deepest darkest Hampshire and are run entirely by volunteers, that way we have no overheads or salaries to pay

Come and see us on 22nd November, 10am to 4pm at the Sue Hedges Memoriall Hall, Raven Road, Hook, RG27 9HH.

More fabulous goodies have arrived for the Christmas Fair today. We have games, sterling silver jewellery and spice and oil gift sets for foodies. I know I say this every year but it’s going to be the BEST EVER!

We’re here for the fair!

This week we have had our first two parcels of goodies for the Shrapnel Christmas Fair. The first one contained some gorgeous, natural toiletries and the second contained a generous selection of very expensive silk ties, pocket squares, small square scarves, Liberty print tea towels and various other goodies. We also have a large selection of B*dy Sh*p items donated by a friend. This year is going to be GREAT!

Date and other details to follow!

After not being able to hold a Christmas Fair last year due to major work being carried out at home, we’re delighted to announce that this year’s fair will be on 23rd November at the Sue Hedges Memorial Hall.

For those of you who aren’t aware, the staff at Shrapnel are all volunteers. Not only do we not get paid, we don’t even claim expenses. Some of us pour our hearts and souls into making this charity work and we feel blessed to have helped the majority of our beneficiaries on whichever journey they are taking. It has, however, recently come to our attention that not all of the recipients of our wheelchairs are honest with us or worthy of the trust we put in them. For some months now I have been considering whether it is worth carrying on - would you work 14 hours a day, unpaid, for what seems like a kick in the teeth?

If Shrapnel is to continue we need a serious shake up with less lenient policies about who we help and some form of contract which means should the chair no longer be required, it is passed on, free of charge, to the organisation of our choice rather than sold for personal gain.

Hello people - we need to get some new leaflets printed and I wondered whether any of you would like to be our poster boy/girl with your pic and a bit of information about what sport means to you, just so the world can see that we really do help actual people and to prove I’m not spending the Shrapnel cash on mojitos in some tropical paradise. Actually, I’ve never been to a tropical paradise in my life. Two days in Skeg is about my limit.
