SGN Southern Emergency Repair

Westbound Road closure High Street Wootton for emergency gas works

SGN engineers have been called to gas escapes on High Street in Wootton. Due to the location of the gas pipes in the road, for everyone’s safety a westbound (heading towards Newport) directional road closure is in place on High Street between the junctions of Station Road/Church Road and Gravel Pitt Road/Palmers Road. Drawing below shows location of the closure marked between blue crosses.

It too early to say how long the repairs will take the complete, our engineers are doing everything they can to complete the necessary works as quickly and as safely as possible.

This closure will mean:

• Vehicle traffic will not be able to travel westbound on High Street between the four-way junction with Station Road and four-way junction of Gravel Pitt Road – a signed diversion route is in place
• Eastbound traffic will remain unaffected – pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained
• Vehicle access to properties located within the closure will be maintained – all access will be from the eastbound lane
• Bus routes along High Street will be affected – please contact your service provider for the latest updates/changes to service

We are sorry for the disruption this directional road closure will cause and thank you for your patience and support.

The closure is due to take place from Monday 25th May 26 for 3 weeks and is needed in the interests of public safety while work takes place around the Belmont Bridge area. The diversion will be Crematorium Road and the path on the inside of the hedge next to the Racecourse Road.
