Statement from Cllr Mike Mendoza:

FINAL UPDATE RE TRAVELLERS.

I am delighted to announce that the Police have had enough and moved the travellers off Elm Grove Park in Lancing.

My grateful thanks to Senior officers at Sussex Police for making this decision.

The residents of the area have had two weeks of Hell from these people who treated the park like a pig sty, let dogs run wild, had chickens roaming free in the children's play area, played loud music very late into the night, drunken arguments almost every night, blocked up roads, plus so much more that I cannot put in here.

Thank you to the residents who helped me with making constant complaints to the Police regarding ASB. Thank you to the many residents who came out to talk to me to give an understanding of their problems.

Thank you to Cllr Victoria Fairman a new member for Reform UK representing Mash Barn Ward on Lancing Parish Council, to Cllr Jim Doubtfire who is a County Cllr and Adur District Cllr for Cokeham Ward in Sompting and to Lloyd Lievens Reform UK member, all of who helped me visit and chat with residents, to let people know that others are around to help and listen.

Sadly not one other Councillor from Labour, Green or Independent come to help, this includes the Labour MP who totally ignored residents pleas for help.

Only Reform Councillors get things done. Only Reform Councillors listen to their residents.

This is not just a great result for Me personally BUT for all the residents surrounding the Park.

Its taken two weeks to get this group moved off the land, previously its taken months

I will be in the area again on Tuesday morning to talk to residents and try to come up with a plan that will stop these people making illegal campments in our area bringing misery to locals.

I have requested Adur District Council to send in a team to thoroughly clean up the park and remove the rubbish left behind.

Worthing Borough Council is currently administered by Labour.

This is our contract with small businesses.👇

1.⁠ Increase the VAT threshold from £90,000 to £150,000.

2. Implement a Hard Work Bonus by removing income tax on overtime.

3. Introduce ‘delay repay’ for HMRC backlogs to incentivise the taxman to treat taxpayers with respect.

4. Reduce the cost of hiring by reversing Labour’s Jobs Tax for British workers.

5. Incentivise apprenticeships by providing wage credits and Apprenticeships Retention Bonuses.

Statement from Cllr Mike Mendoza

UPDATE REGARDING TRAVELLERS:

I am in constant touch with residents around the ward especially in the Elm Grove area where travellers have decided that they will spend some time in the area!

At long last I have had confirmation from WSCC that they have issued a notice to leave to the travellers. The next stage is a court date which we are waiting for. This could take 3 or 4 weeks!!

The police continue to visit daily, up to 3 times a day. I have discussions with the area commander on a daily basis and until now they are satisfied with the situation. I say until now, one of our residents had an unfortunate situation with the travellers and this is now under police investigation. If the police are satisfied that an offence has ben committed then they (the police) can move the travellers on using their own powers.

I will continue to be available to residents at all times.
