Lliwiau'r hydref | Autumn colour

Coch ar waliau'r castell, aur yn y coetir a gardd yn newid gyda'r tymhorau.

Mae'r hydref yn amser arbennig i grwydro Castell y Waun. Cewch ganfod y coed masarn coch tywyll yn yr Ardd Lwyni, crwydro heibio'r tocwaith ywen a dilyn llwybrau'r coetir dan y coed sy'n troi'n ambr, oren ac aur.

Edrychwch yn fanylach ac efallai y gwelwch beth o'r ffwng anhygoel yn ymddangos ar hyd a lled yr ystâd.

Ond nid yw lliwiau'r hydref yn para am byth. Ar ôl i'r dail fod ar eu mwyaf llachar, gall y gwynt a'r glaw ddod â'r arddangosfa i ben yn gyflym.

Red on the castle walls, gold in the woodland and a garden changing with the seasons.

Autumn is a wonderful time to explore Chirk Castle. Discover the deep red acers in the Shrub Garden, wander past the yew topiary and follow the woodland paths beneath trees turning shades of amber, orange and gold.

Look a little closer and you might even spot some of the fascinating fungi appearing across the estate.

But autumn's colours don't last forever. Once the leaves reach their brightest, wind and rain can quickly bring the display to an end.

Two ways to experience Calan Gaeaf at Chirk Castle this October half term.

🍂 Daytime family trails | 24 October – 1 November

Follow a trail through the castle grounds, from the mysterious Harvest Mare and animal tracks near the Hawk House to a witch's hut hidden in Pleasure Ground Wood. Search for magical items and tackle an obstacle course inspired by the legendary Red Hand of Chirk.

🌙 Calan Gaeaf: After Dark | Saturday 31 October, 6–8pm

As darkness falls, discover the castle transformed through dramatic lighting, atmospheric music and live theatrical performances. Encounter costumed characters inspired by Welsh folklore in an immersive evening experience.

We’re proud to welcome Hope House Children’s Hospices back to Chirk Castle for the Dark Run this October.

It’s lovely to see this much-loved event return, lighting up the castle grounds with bright neon colours, glow sticks and head torches for an evening after dark.

As darkness falls, runners, joggers and walkers will set off around Chirk Castle, with fancy dress and glowing accessories helping bring the night to life. Against the backdrop of the castle after dark, every step will help raise money to support Hope House Children’s Hospices.

Choose a 2k or 4k route and come ready to shine. Saturday 17 October from 6pm at Chirk Castle.
