Bronygarth Bridge Reopening – 22 May 2026

We are pleased to inform you that repair works to Bronygarth Bridge have now been completed. The bridge will reopen to traffic from 4:00pm today (22 May 2026).

Bronygarth Bridge was partially closed following Storm Bert in November 2024, which ultimately led to an emergency full closure. Investigations identified that the upstream headwall of a private culvert had become completely buried under approximately two metres of silt and stone debris. This obstruction forced water to bypass the culvert, flowing around the nearby property at Brookside Manor, through the garden, and over the road.

Repair works commenced on Wednesday 1 October 2025 and have now been successfully completed.

We appreciate the public's patience and cooperation during the closure and the works period.

North & Mid Wales Trunk Road Agent will be undertaking cyclic works (gully emptying, grass cutting, inspections etc) on the A5 Welsh Trunk Road between Gledrid and Halton roundabouts, and the A5 between Halton and Whitehurst roundabouts.

To carry out the works safety we will be closing the A5 each night from 20:00 to 06:00 and diverting Trunk Road traffic onto B5070 from Gledrid roundabout to A5 Whitehurst roundabout on:
