🌟 CHARLIE THE SUPERSTAR 🌟

8 year old Charlie has completed his remarkable 122km (70 mile) coastal path run around the Isle of Wight to raise money for the RNLI! 🏃‍♂️

Charlie, who was also accompanied by his mum Emma, ran in four stages, with each stage taking two days and managed an average of 16km a day (original target was 12km!) and yesterday (Thursday 21st) they crossed the finish line outside Yarmouth’s all-weather lifeboat and 17-25 ‘Eric and Susan Hiscock - Wanderer’ where they were cheered on by volunteer crew from Yarmouth RNLI!

The RNLI crew were delighted to welcome Charlie and Emma to Yarmouth, and afterwards gave Charlie and his family a tour of the Severn Class lifeboat and lifeboat station.

Emma said ‘It's been an amazing experience. People have been so supportive and kind, whether they have been visitors themselves or locals, they have been brilliants towards us and supported our cause.
It was such a privilege to meet some of the crew and get an insight into all the valuable work they do! Charlie had the BEST time… and who knows… maybe you’ll see Charlie joining the team one day!’

Charlie had originally hoped to raise £250…
However, the current total now sits at OVER £1700!! Wow wow wow! Well done Charlie!

📟 SERVICE UPDATE | 18/08/26 📟

Yarmouth and Cowes RNLI volunteers were tasked yesterday evening to a 37ft yacht near Newtown Creek following reports of engine failure and a serious hand injury onboard.

Working alongside HM Coastguard, Rescue Helicopter 375, the Needles Coastguard Rescue Team and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, crews safely transferred the casualty ashore for treatment and assisted the remaining sailors back to Yarmouth Harbour.

A great multi-agency response demonstrating the power of teamwork at sea. 👏

⭐ MAYDAY MILE SUPERSTARS ⭐

We had a very special treat yesterday, where we were joined by two absolutely incredible supporters at our open day!

Jack (10) and Maddie (7) took on the RNLI 31 miles Mayday challenge this year, and are now the proud owners of two very shiny medals to award them for their amazing achievements!

It was an absolute pleasure to meet Jack, Maddie and their family yesterday and from all of us here at Yarmouth RNLI, we send you a great big THANK YOU for your dedication and support!

🛟 TRAINING THURSDAYS 🛟

Our volunteer crew at Yarmouth RNLI were out on the water recently for a joint training exercise with the HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter.

Working together during exercises like this is vital, helping our crews build confidence and strengthen communication so we can respond effectively when every second matters.

Huge thanks to the Coastguard team for the session! It’s through regular training like this that we continue to prepare for whatever and whenever the next call may be. 💪🏼

💙 LIFEBOAT OPEN DAY 🧡

Heading to Yarmouth to enjoy carnival week?

Join us at our berth in Yarmouth Harbour from 12noon and tour our magnificent Severn Class All-Weather Lifeboat and meet some of our crew!

Our Water Safety Team will also be about providing expert advice and running their water safety clinic from 12noon too (by the mechanics unit on the harbour wall)

And don’t forget - our RNLI shop is open EVERY DAY where you can find the perfect gift as well as toys, stationary and clothing!

It looks like this Sunday is going to be a fun filled day, and we can’t wait to see you there! ☀️

✨YARMOUTH SUPERSTARS✨

Over the Taittinger RSYC Regatta weekend, fundraisers and water safety volunteers from Yarmouth RNLI engaged with many members of the public who came to Yarmouth to enjoy the festivities.

Our amazing water safety team opened a lifejacket clinic with our friends from SeaSafe Systems on the Friday afternoon, where 16 out of 17 personal floatation devices required part replacements. They also raised over £200 in just a short few hours whilst the lifejacket clinic was open! Well done team! 👏🏼

Then, that very same evening, ALB crew member Kris and his lovely partner Helen were at the Royal Solent Yacht Club for the Taittinger Opening Event collecting donations on behalf of the lifeboat station and raised an incredible £953!!

We’re so grateful for our volunteers, both on and off shore! Thank you for the time you provide to help support saving lives at sea!

🙌🏼 RACHAEL IS READY FOR SERVICE 🙌🏼

A huge congratulations to one of our newest volunteers to join Yarmouth RNLI, who is now the proud owner of a very shiny new pager after completing all of the safe to go afloat assessments and attending a CEP (crew emergency procedure) course in Poole!

Rachael, who is also a busy berthing master for Yarmouth Harbour, will now work towards completing the tier 1 All-weather Lifeboat assessment as part of the RNLI’s OCF (operational competency framework) training.

Well done Rachael! 👏🏼 🌟

📟 SERVICE UPDATE - 25/07/26 📟

Saturday 25th July was a busy afternoon for our volunteer RNLI crew on Saturday, responding to three taskings in just a few hours.

🚣 Tasking 1: Just after 2pm, HM Coastguard tasked Yarmouth RNLI to assist an ocean rowing boat in distress off Brook Beach. On arrival, the boat was already being towed by a nearby day boat. During rescue operations, the rowing boat capsized, putting all three crew in the water. Freshwater Lifeboat who were also on scene, swiftly recovered the casualties, who were then safely transferred ashore at Freshwater Bay.

🚤 Tasking 2: While still on scene, the vessel towing the rowing boat reported a loss of steering. Due to the risks involved both locational and the condition of the vessel, Yarmouth Lifeboat established a tow and safely returned the vessel to Yarmouth Harbour.

⛵ Tasking 3: Whilst en route back to Yarmouth Harbour, another call came in from Alum Bay where a 30ft sailing yacht had fouled its anchor. After delivering the day boat safely ashore, the crew returned to assist. Two volunteers boarded the yacht, freed the anchor, and the Lifeboat escorted the vessel back towards Yarmouth.

👏 The day also marked the first shift for newly qualified Launch Authority Kev, who said: “It’s been great getting involved again after having my knee operated on. I was previously enrolled as seagoing crew, so was already aware of aspects of what was required within the launch authority role, but all the training I received from the RNLI really helped with understanding the further administration of it all. It was a pretty thrilling first day!”

A huge well done to all crews involved and our partner agencies for their teamwork throughout a challenging afternoon.

Pop along and see us. Bring your lifejacket which we can service and we might be able to replace any necessary parts there and then.

👏🏼 WELL DONE ADEY 👏🏼

Yarmouth RNLI volunteer, Adey Evans successfully completed his Tier 1 pass-out on Yarmouth 17-25 ‘Eric and Susan Hiscock ’Wanderer’’ All Weather Lifeboat (ALB) this week! (Thursday 16th July)

This pass out for Adey goes towards his qualifications gained in the RNLI operational competency framework (OCF) which is an integral structure for RNLI volunteer’s training which can take them from joining all the way through to other key all-weather lifeboat roles such as deputy coxswain, deputy mechanic and navigator.

As part of the assessment, Adey had to demonstrate knowledge and understanding in a wide range of key operational tasks—including towing, anchoring, mooring, and casualty care. He also had to show an understanding of emergency protocols, and local operating procedures.

Adey said ‘ I started with literally no experience, and from day one the support, encouragement and patience I have received from the rest of the crew has been amazing. The training I have received has been great and I have learnt lots of new skills and I look forward to developing more with Yarmouth Lifeboat in the future. Thanks to all the crew for sharing their knowledge and experience and helping me achieve Tier 1!’
