🌞🦁 IV Trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park! 🦒🍦

We had a fantastic day out at Yorkshire Wildlife Park with our young people and IVs. The sun was shining, we saw lots of amazing animals and made fantastic memories. It was great to see IVs getting to know each other or catching up!

We've received lots of positive feedback, and we're so pleased everyone had such a good time.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped to make the day such a success. Huge shout out to Rachel from the Volunteer Service who took the lead on the organisation and planning!

Now the question is... where should our next trip be? 😀

It's Volunteers' Week and it's a busy one for the Volunteer Service as we welcome and train new Independent Visitors and Parent Advocates.

These volunteers will go on to provide invaluable support to young people and parents across York, ensuring they have someone alongside them when it matters most.

We never take for granted the contribution of those who choose to give their time to support others and every Volunteers' Week we are reminded just how fortunate we are to work with such dedicated volunteers.

It's Volunteers' Week – a week for us to say a huge thank you to all our amazing volunteers across York.

Every day, we have the honour of seeing how your commitment and kindness are making a real difference to young people and families throughout the city. We are so grateful for the time you dedicate and for everything you do.

As part of our ongoing support for our volunteers, we hold regular Volunteer Support Evenings which give our volunteers a chance to learn something new and to share experiences and provide peer support.

This month, we held a Domestic Abuse Awareness Workshop, ran by the City of York Council's Domestic Abuse Engagement Officers. It was such an engaging and informative session and our volunteers will certainly be able to apply this knowledge in their roles going forward.

As most of our volunteers work 1-1 with young people or parents, we understand how important it is to provide a space for peer support and knowledge sharing. If any of our volunteers have any thoughts about workshops we could run on future support evenings, we'd love to hear your ideas.

Last month, some of our volunteers were recognised at York's Social Care and Education Celebration Event. We heard some incredibly moving stories about the power of volunteering and how our Independent Visitors and Mentors have gone above and beyond for the young people they support and their families.

One of our lovely IVs shared this wonderful photo from their day out — the sun was shining, and honestly, what better way to spend it than fishing together 🎣🐟

They had such a lovely time, creating long‑lasting memories that both will cherish 🥰
