Lockheed Martin debuted its new PAC-3 Edge interceptor designed to counter hypersonic and advanced missile threats.



The new interceptor, which leverages the combat-proven PAC-3 MSE technology, is currently in competition for the U.S. Army's Future Interceptor program, and has progressed into the next stage of development.



The company said that it will advance development and begin testing the system in 2027 to prepare for rapid deployment by 2031.

PAC-3 Edge will feature a seeker designed by Lockheed Martin's Strigo Product Center enabling increased precision and maneuverability to counter the most advanced threats. It also features a multi-pulse solid rocket motor designed by Northrop Grumman, implementing advanced enhancements to deliver precision thrust throughout the interceptor's flight. The system will also feature control system upgrades to deliver increased performance at range and altitude.

The new interceptor is designed to counter a wide range of air, missile and hypersonic threats at higher altitudes and longer ranges, expanding the U.S. Army's Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) coverage. It is designed to be integrated with existing and future IAMD capabilities including the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS), the M903 launcher, containerized launchers and HIMARS Flex.

French startup Harmattan AI unveiled IRIFI on 6 October, a one-way strike drone it says can reach 2,000 km (1,240 miles) without GPS or a pilot after launch.

Canister launch from a mobile trailer. Company claims onboard navigation, a camera on final approach, low flight and metre-level accuracy. Commanders confirm the target before launch. Speed, payload, price, tests and customers were not given.

, where its legacy will inspire future generations. AFA and Air & Space Forces Magazine were on the C-5 that carried the Nighthawk from Skunk Works to IAD.
