Dr. Johnson Asiama says he is receiving calls asking for the reduction of our medium-term inflation target band which is 8% plus or minus 2 percentage points.
“They say we are too good for 8% (±2%)”.

Watch the Governor’s take.

Ghana’s economy grew by 6.4% in the first quarter of 2026, up from 6.2% during the same period in 2025.

There are other encouraging signs:

* Ghana now has US$12.9 billion in reserves — enough to pay for about five months of the country’s imports.
* Ghana recorded an US$8.8 billion trade surplus, meaning we exported far more than we imported.
* The Cedi has remained broadly stable, helping to keep the cost of goods bought from abroad under control.
* Ghana has received credit rating upgrades, with hopes of another upgrade later this year.

Governor Dr. Johnson Asiama says these developments show that Ghana’s economic recovery is gaining strength.
