The Agordeke-Kpando Torkor ferry service has officially been restored
The repaired AgordekeβKpando Torkor ferry (pontoon) is scheduled to resume full operations on the Volta Lake. Following lobbying by the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Afram Plains North, Hon. Kate Mawusi Babanawo, and the Regional Minister, the Volta Lake Transport Company (VLTC) authorized its deployment.
Ferry services are expected to start work fully on Monday following recent announcements by the DCE Hon. Kate Mawusi during the sod cutting ceremony on the 24hrs economy market.
To cover operational costs and support the ferry's return, fares for the AgordekeβKpando Torkor route have been adjusted to GHC 25.00 (up from GHC 12.00).
To permanently address transport challenges, the government is initiating the construction of a major bridge across the Afram river, along with massive road reconstruction to connect Adawso to Kpando.
