Together with the National NADMO Director, Major (Rtd) Dr. Joseph Bikanyi Kuyon, the Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Akweley Obenewaa Ocloo, and the President, H.E John Dramani Mahama, yesterday, conducted an inspection of the Ramsar sites in Greater Accra including the Achimota Abofu Drain where work has commenced and the drain was being completed. The second site was the Mallam Junction Ramsar site where inspection was made on the narrowing of the drain and finally the GARID projects which included Kaneshie - Accra Academy & Odaw drain at circle to know the state of the drains and the volume of water it can hold as work continues at the site.

The visit aimed to assess the current state of these vital wetlands, which play a significant role in flood mitigation. During the inspection, discussions were held on identifying effective strategies to prevent flooding in the region. Key focus areas included enhancing drainage systems, restoring wetlands, and improving community engagement in flood preparedness.

The stakeholders agreed to collaborate on actionable solutions to address the growing challenge of flooding in the area.

Signed;
Hon. Dennis Adjannor Nartey,
