First Black Valedictorian in her School's 132-year History and more...

59 years ago, he integrated the school. This year, his grand-niece led it. ✊🏾✨

In 1967, Sam McCamey walked through the doors of Scottsboro High School in Alabama as the very first Black student to integrate the school system. He carried the weight of history on his shoulders.

Nearly 60 years later, his grand-niece, Lela Moser, walked out of those exact same doors—as the first African American Valedictorian in the school's 132-year history.
Same family. Same town. Entirely different outcome.

But Lela didn’t just excel in the classroom. She shattered barriers across the board:

First Black female pilot in the United States Air Force and more...

Headline: Breaking Barriers at 30,000 Feet! ✈️✨

Today, we are celebrating Captain Theresa M. Claiborne, a true aviation pioneer who made history as the first Black female pilot in the United States Air Force.

Commissioned in 1981, Captain Claiborne broke barriers in the sky by becoming the first Black woman to command and instruct in the Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker, logging over 3,000 military flight hours.

Her historic journey didn't stop there. In 1990, she transitioned to commercial aviation, flying for United Airlines for 34 years and rising to Captain on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner before her retirement in 2024 with an incredible 23,000+ total flight hours!

Beyond her own achievements, she is the co-founder and president of Sisters of the Skies, a nonprofit dedicated to mentoring and creating pathways for future generations of women of color in professional aviation.

Born without hands or feet... Now a licensed commercial pilot

"The word impossible is an illusion behind the word possible." ✈️🔥

Meet Zach Anglin, a trailblazing aviator who shattered every barrier to become the world’s first quadruple amputee licensed commercial pilot and flight instructor.

Born in Nigeria with severe limb differences and adopted by an American family, Zach’s dream of flying seemed out of reach to everyone but him.

His journey to the cockpit is a masterclass in relentless grit:
❌ Rejected by over 10 flight schools.
❌ Denied medical certification by the FAA 5 times.
🛠️ Worked with prosthetists to design custom lower-limb prosthetics just to manipulate cockpit controls.

He refused to take "no" for an answer. Zach passed the FAA's specialized tests, earned his commercial license, and went on to become a Certified Flight Instructor at Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology—training over 200 future pilots. 🧑‍✈️🙌
