Day one of the National Sanitation Exercise was led in Tema by Hon. Ebi Bright, Mayor of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, and in Accra by Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, Mayor of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, together with Nii Teiko Tsuru Ga II, the Ga Mantse.
With the support of DRIP equipment and the collective efforts of stakeholders and residents, the exercise reinforced the shared commitment to cleaner communities and flood prevention.

The Tema Metropolitan Assembly today joined the nationwide cleanup exercise at the Community 1 Market as part of efforts to reduce flooding and improve sanitation across the Greater Accra Region.
Working alongside other stakeholders, DRIP equipment was deployed to support the exercise by clearing debris, removing waste, and opening up blocked areas to improve the free flow of stormwater.
This exercise is a reminder that DRIP equipment is not only improving district roads but also serving communities during critical national interventions. By supporting cleanup and flood mitigation efforts, these machines are helping to create cleaner, safer, and more resilient communities.
Flood prevention is a shared responsibility. Let's all do our part by keeping our surroundings clean and protecting our drains from indiscriminate dumping of waste.

A FOND FAREWELL, A LASTING LEGACY

Following his resignation on Friday, the National DRIP Coordinator, Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, met with the management and staff of DRIP to bid them a heartfelt farewell.

In an emotional final address, he expressed his gratitude to the entire team for their dedication, commitment, and unwavering support throughout his tenure. He encouraged the staff to remain focused, uphold the values of the programme, and continue the great work they have started.

As he takes a new path, his message remains clear; the work must continue, the vision must live on, and the impact must be felt.

Thank you, Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, for your leadership, service, and the footprints you have left behind. Your legacy will continue to inspire the DRIP family.

The National DRIP Secretariat has successfully repaired and recovered two major pieces of equipment — a bulldozer and a grader — that had been damaged and abandoned at Okyeamekrom in the Sene West District of the Bono East Region.

The week-long repair works, sponsored by the Bono East Regional Chairman of the NDC, Mr. Nolasco, with technical support from J.A Plant Pool, involved the replacement of damaged cylinders and the refitting of the engines.

The equipment reportedly became damaged in December 2024 after being improperly used to clear access by pushing down a mango tree in the community. Since then, the machines had remained abandoned until the National DRIP Coordinator and his team discovered them during an inspection tour of the region last September.

Following several unsuccessful attempts to retrieve the equipment due to high recovery costs, the Bono East Regional Chairman stepped in to support the initiative. The machines have now been fully repaired and transported to the regional capital, Techiman.

In a telephone conversation today, the National Coordinator Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye expressed the gratitude of Management and the entire DRIP family to Mr. Nolasco for his patriotic intervention. He further directed that a formal letter of appreciation be sent to the Regional Chairman.

Responding to the National Coordinator, Mr. Nolasco urged Ghanaians to continue supporting the DRIP initiative, citing its positive impact on rural communities and its contribution to national development.
