The maiden edition of the Ladé Wosornu Students Poetry Contest was successfully held under the auspices of the Creative Arts Agency of Ghana as part of the Agency’s “Grow the Artist-in-Me!” Programme, aimed at nurturing young creative talents through literary arts and performance.

We warmly congratulate Accra High School for emerging as winners of the inaugural competition following an impressive display of poetic excellence and creativity.

The Agency expresses sincere appreciation to its partners and supporters, including the Pan African Writers Association, the Ghana Library Authority, the Professor Ladé Wosornu Trust, participating schools, teachers, judges, translators, parents, and all patrons whose support made the programme a success.

The public is encouraged to look forward to more impactful creative initiatives from the Creative Arts Agency of Ghana as the Agency continues to promote creativity and talent development among the youth.

The Creative Arts Agency of Ghana presents the maiden edition of the Ladé Wosornu Students Poetry Contest on Thursday, 28th May 2026, at the National Mobile and Children’s Library.

The contest forms part of the Agency’s “Grow the Artist-in-Me!” Programme, aimed at nurturing and developing young creative talents through literary arts and performance.

Participating schools are:

• Wesley Grammar Senior High School
• St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School
• Accra Girls Senior High School
• Labone Senior High School
• Accra High School

Students will perform the poem “Raider of the Treasure Trove” by Ladé Wosornu in both English and selected Ghanaian languages, translated by the Bureau of Ghana Languages. Participating schools will also take part in a quiz session.

The programme is organised in partnership with the Pan African Writers Association and the Ghana Library Authority, with support from the Professor Ladé Wosornu Trust.

The public is warmly invited to support and encourage these young talents as they celebrate poetry, language and creativity.

STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF BEVERLY AFAGLO BAAH

The Creative Arts Agency of Ghana has received with profound sorrow the news of the passing of celebrated Ghanaian actress, Beverly Afaglo Baah.

Beverly Afaglo Baah was a remarkable talent whose contribution to Ghana’s creative industry, particularly the film and entertainment agency sector, will forever be remembered. Through her dedication, professionalism, and passion for the arts, she inspired many young creatives and brought pride to the Ghanaian entertainment fraternity.

On behalf of the Board, Management, Staff, Stakeholders and the entire creative arts community, we extend our deepest condolences to her husband, Eugene Kwadwo Boadu Baah (Choirmaster), their children, family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones during this difficult time.

Her passing is a great loss not only to her family but also to the entire nation and the creative arts industry she served diligently.

We pray that the Almighty grants her eternal rest and gives strength and comfort to her family and all who mourn her passing.

May her soul rest in perfect peace.

Pictures from “ADDICTION”

A powerful dance theatre production by Vivie’s Dance and Theatre Academy in partnership with the Creative Arts Agency of Ghana, held at the National Theatre of Ghana.

The impactful production utilised dance, drama, and music to raise awareness on youth mental health, addiction, peer pressure, and substance abuse, while encouraging positive behavioural change among young people.

Special appreciation goes to Vivie’s Dance and Theatre Academy, participating schools, performers, patrons, media partners, and all stakeholders whose immense support and contribution ensured the success of this meaningful production.

The Creative Arts Agency in partnership with the Vivie’s Dance and Theatre Academy cordially invites the general public to witness “ADDICTION” , a powerful dance theatre production centred on youth mental health.

The programme is designed to educate and raise awareness among young people on issues relating to mental health, addiction, peer pressure, substance abuse, and other behavioural challenges through the creative expressions of dance, drama, and music.

The production is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 21st May, 2026 at 12:00 PM at the National Theatre of Ghana.

Highlights from the maiden Ghana Book Party, held Thursday, 23rd April 2026 at the National Children and Mobile Library.

Organised by the Creative Arts Agency, Ghana Library Authority, Ghana Commission for UNESCO, and Ghana Publishing Company to commemorate World Book and Copyright Day.

The event featured book exhibitions, dramatic readings, creative performances, and the honouring of Ghanaian literary legends.
