As part of the Ghana-UK Investment Summit 2026, a Ghana Diaspora Townhall Meeting was held to engage Ghanaians in the diaspora on issues of economic growth and investment.

The Executive Secretary of the Ghana International Trade Commission (GITC), Hon. Mavis Adjei-Kwaa, joined H.E. President John Dramani Mahama at the session, which highlighted Ghanaโ€™s strong economic recovery, with approximately 6% growth in 2025, ongoing reforms, and the critical role of the diaspora in driving investment and national development.

President Mahama emphasized the strategic importance of the diaspora, describing Ghanaians abroad as the nationโ€™s โ€œ17th Region,โ€ and pointing to the GIPA Bill as a key step toward attracting investment and strengthening Ghanaโ€™s business environment.

GITC Engages GRA Excise Unit on Investigative Processes

As part of its ongoing collaborative efforts in investigating petitions, the Ghana International Trade Commission (GITC) held a working engagement with personnel from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Excise Unit.

The session provided an opportunity for GITC to gain deeper insight into specific excise related processes, with the GRA team taking the Commission through key procedures and operational frameworks relevant to ongoing and future investigations.

This engagement strengthens inter agency collaboration and enhances GITCโ€™s capacity to conduct thorough and evidence based investigations. It also supports the Commissionโ€™s mandate to ensure fair trade practices and a transparent, competitive market environment.
