The Agona West Municipal Education Directorate in collaboration with the Reflective Minds Educational Consult an accredited service provider for GES/NTC Pointing Building and as part of effort to improve teacher effectiveness and standards, organized a day's Continuous Professional Development point Based workshop on promoting Higher Order Thinking Skills in Teaching and Learning through Effective Assessment Techniques.
The rationale for the organization of the workshop was; teachers play a vital role in the teaching and developing learner's higher order thinking skills and deep learning. The workshop was to impart in teachers the needed skills to develop the crucial core competencies as enshrined in the Standard Based and the Common Core Programme among learners through effective assessment techniques.
The workshop provided the opportunity for teachers to explore Effective Questioning Technique that encouraged activities leading to learning situations, thereby stimulating gradual construction of new knowledge and developing the cognitive levels of the learners.
The duration for today's workshop was from 8:00am to 2:00pm.
The 7th December session of the workshop included Teachers from Swedru Circuit A, B, and C and three (3) centres were used for the workshop namely; Swedru Emmanuel Society of the Methodist Church, Bethel Society of Presbyterian Church and the International Central Gospel Church. An average of 750 teachers took part in this workshop.
The municipal Director Mr. Bismak M. Offei encouraged all teachers to participate fully in the workshop so they can benefit immensely. Again the knowledge gained must reflect in their teaching methodology to impart the lives of the learners entrusted into our hands.

The Municipal Director as part of his monitoring activities, today the 6th of December, 2023 visited Nyakrom Senior High Technical School, Siddiq Senior High School and Swedru School of Business to monitor the ongoing admission of SHS 1 students. As at the time of visit to Nyakrom SHTS, 40 students had reported out of 467 who had been enrolled. This figure comprises 182 Boys and 275 Girls. The school declared 815 spaces however 792 students were allocated.
At Siddiq SHS, 650 spaces were declared and 247 had been enrolled.
At Swesbus 1,020 spaces declared and about 550 students have been enrolled and still counting.
The Municipal Director took the opportunity to visit selected Basic school in the Nyakrom Circuit A to monitor teaching and learning and also to interact with the staff. The schools visited included Nyakrom AMA Basic A, B and C. At Nyakrom AMA Basic 'B,' JHS students were undertaking a project work in Career Technology and local materials found in the locality were use used to design various artifacts such as houses, tricycles, hut and others.
The Municipal Director expressed his joy in seeing the students making very good use of their environment and encouraged them never to depart from their dreams.

A team of Officers from the Bountiful Technology led by the CEO Mr. Seth Ogo Ayim visited the Agona West Municipal Education directorate to access the impact of the Bountiful Technology in the directorate on the student. Other team members were Mad. Meli Mansu in charge of Head of Library at Goethe and Sir. Samuel a member of the Technical team. The team will visit Swedru Girls' Model Basic and Nsuansa Basic to interact with students as well.
Present at the directorate were for the meeting were; Mr. Samuel Kwesi Mensah (DD-Supervision), who represented the Municipal Director, Mad. Helena Arthur (DD-HRM), Mr. Seth Boadi (DD-PME) Mr. Kwame Yeboah (DD-A&F) Mad. Grace Quansah (STEM Coordinator) and Mr. Patrick King Lumumba Lekey PRO.

SWEDRUMAN AWARDS BEST 2023 BECE CANDIDATE OF SWEDRU GIRLS' MODEL SCHOOL
As part of Nananom's visit to the 2023 BECE centres during the examination, they promised the candidates that whoever obtains a single aggregate will be honoured.
Today the 30th of November, 2023 at the Swedru Girls' Model School, the Swedruman Nananom have honoured their promise by presenting an undisclosed cash donation to Miss Amy Akua Oduma Odoom for obtaining aggregate 9 at the school. Nananom also presented bags of water to the school.
The purpose of this gesture was to inspire students to achieve the best in their studies. It was also a means to let the students know that hard work pays and neither should they be led astray by friends to ignore their books.
Present at the short ceremony was the Deputy Director in charge of Supervision who represented the. Director Mr. Samuel Kwesi Mensah the Head, Staff and Students of Sweden Girls' Model.
Agona Swedru Girls' Model is the first and the only single s*x Basic school established in the Municipality. The school has been performing remarkably in academics, sports and other social events in the Municipality.
The Municipal Director expresses his joy for this achievement and wishes Miss Army Ekua Oduma Odoom the very best in her academic endeavors and also yo the Swedruman Chiefs.

The state of Agona West Education Office Annex any time rain drives. This has been the practice for several years and we by this soliciting for a support to put the place in good condition.

The member of Parliament for Agona West Constituency Hon. Cynthia Mamle Morrison today the 1st of August, 2023 handed over 21 boxes of 144 pieces of Mathematical Set and 4boxes of Blue Bic pens to be distributed to the 2023 BECE Candidates ahead of their final Basic examination. The exams is scheduled to start on the 7th of August to the 11th of August 2023. The directorate is grateful to the MP for her kind gesture.

The Municipal Director of Education today the 18th of July, 2023 as part of his efforts to improve and sustain the academic performance of students in the Agona West Municipality undertook an unannounced monitoring of selected schools in the Bobikuma Circuit A of the Agona West Municipal Education.

In all schools visited, teaching and learning was ongoing. Attendance of both teachers and students were impressive.
The JHS 3 students were busily writing their mock ahead of the 2023 BECE.
MDE had an interaction with the students and admonish them to serious with their books. They should be focused, determined and strive to achieve their set target in life.
The students were again advised not in any way miss admission to the free SHS of their choice.
The students were reminded of the 2023 B.E.C.E which will commence from the 7th to 11th of August, 2023.

The University of Cape Coast commissions a new campus at Agona Nyakrom in the Agona West Municipal. The facility which was commissioned today will serve as a Training Resort and Conference Center. The Training Resort and the Conference Centre block which was started in 2012 occupies a 50 acre land donated by the Agona nyakrom Traditional Council led by the Omanhene Okofo Okatakyie Nyarko Eku X. The block has 162 bed rooms, 60 executive bedrooms, 10 seminar rooms, shops, kitchen and a multipurpose recreational centre.
Some dignitaries who graced the ceremony were the Minister for Education, Director General of the National Teaching Council, Deputy Director Genera- Management Service (GES), Regional Director of Education, Municipal Director of Education - Agona West Municipal, Chief of Agona Nyakrom Traditional Council and Members of the University Community.

Today, we celebrate Father's Day and to express our gratitude towards our fathers who play an essential role in our lives. It’s a day when we can take a moment to appreciate all the things our fathers do for us and acknowledge their unconditional love and care.
Fathers are the unsung heroes of our life who work hard to provide for us, support us and guide us along the way. They make numerous sacrifices and put in a lot of effort to ensure we have a bright future. They are always there to encourage us when we falter and guide us in the right direction. Fathers also teach us valuable life lessons that stay with us throughout our life. The bond we share with our fathers is incredibly special and unique in its way.
Today, on this Father's Day, let’s take a moment to thank our fathers for all their love, care, and support. Let us remember all the good memories and moments we shared with them. Let us show our love and appreciation by spending some quality time with our fathers and making them feel special.
