Yesterday was a proud and successful day for the Bawku Municipal Assembly as we supported our hardworking Master Craftsmen and Apprentices through the National Apprenticeship Program.
As part of the program, start-up tools and equipment were presented to beneficiaries who have completed their apprenticeship training. These items will help them begin their journey toward self-employment and sustainable livelihoods.
This initiative reflects the commitment of H.E. John Dramani Mahama to empower young people across Ghana through skills development, entrepreneurship, and job creation.
To our talented artisans and apprentices, these tools represent a new beginning. Use them to build your businesses, create opportunities for others, and contribute to the development of our beloved municipality.
The future of Bawku lies in the hands of our hardworking youth. As a Municipal Assembly, we will continue to support programs that empower our people, strengthen livelihoods, and encourage peace, unity, and progress in our community.
Together, we are building a stronger Bawku.

Today marks another important step in our commitment to empowering the youth of Bawku.
Through the National Apprenticeship Program, the Bawku Municipal Assembly is proud to distribute start-up support to our hardworking Master Craftsmen and Apprentices who have dedicated themselves to learning valuable skills that will drive local development and self-reliance.
This initiative reflects the vision of H.E. John Dramani Mahama to create opportunities for young people across the country by supporting skills training, entrepreneurship, and job creation.
To our artisans and apprentices, this support is not just equipment, it is a seed for growth, innovation, and independence. Use these tools to build businesses, create jobs, and inspire others in our communities.
The future of Bawku lies in the hands of our hardworking youth, and together we will continue to invest in programs that strengthen livelihoods and promote peace, unity, and progress in our municipality.

Today, I had the honour of joining students, teachers, security services, and residents of the Bawku Municipality at Bawku Senior High School to commemorate Ghana’s 69th Independence Day celebration. 🇬🇭
It was inspiring to witness our students proudly march on the parade ground, demonstrating discipline, unity, and patriotism as we celebrate this important milestone in our nation’s history. Their commitment and enthusiasm give us great hope for the future of Bawku and Ghana.
As we reflect on the meaning of independence, I also want to emphasize the importance of peace in our municipality. The peace we are experiencing today is still fragile, and it is our collective responsibility to protect and sustain it. Let us continue to work together to build a peaceful and prosperous Bawku for our children and generations yet unborn.
I commend the school authorities, teachers, security services, and all organizers whose dedication ensured a successful and memorable celebration. Your efforts continue to nurture the values of discipline, leadership, and national pride in our young people.
As we celebrate 69 years of independence, let us renew our commitment to peace, unity, and development within the Bawku Municipality and across our beloved Ghana. 🇬🇭
Happy Independence Day to all.

I had the opportunity to attend a fruitful engagement with members of the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association, together with the Coordinator of Girls Connect, Madam Amina Alhassan.
Girls Connect is a commendable initiative dedicated to empowering and uplifting the girl child, and it is a proud brainchild of the Member of Parliament for the Bawku Constituency. The meeting focused on collaboration, skills development, and practical ways to support local artisans, especially women and young girls learning vocational skills.
As part of this engagement, fabric cutters were donated to support the work of the association and enhance their productivity. This gesture is a step towards strengthening vocational training, promoting self-reliance, and creating sustainable livelihoods within our municipality.
I commend the leadership of the association, Girls Connect, and all stakeholders for their commitment to community development. Together, we will continue to support initiatives that empower our people and build a stronger, more inclusive Bawku Municipality.

I paid a working visit to the Bawku Abattoir to interact with the hardworking staff and discuss ways to strengthen collaboration with the Municipal Assembly to ensure the production of safe and hygienic meat for our people.
Discussions focused on sanitation, hygiene, and food safety standards. I commended the workers for their resilience and commitment, especially for continuing their work despite the challenges of the Bawku conflict. Encouragingly, peace is gradually being restored, and we remain hopeful for a more stable and productive Municipality.
The Assembly remains committed to supporting the Abattoir to protect public health and improve service delivery.

I had the pleasure of receiving Miss Samampiid and Miss Upper East who paid a courtesy call on me at my office.
Their visit was not only a gesture of goodwill but also a meaningful engagement on youth empowerment, culture, and the role of beauty with purpose in promoting peace, unity, and development within our municipality and the Upper East Region at large.
I commend them for using their platforms to inspire young people, promote our rich cultural heritage, and advocate for positive social change. As a Municipal Assembly, we remain committed to supporting initiatives that uplift our youth and project Bawku positively to the rest of the country and beyond.
I thank Miss Samampiid and Miss Upper East for the visit and wish them continued success in their respective advocacies and responsibilities.

This morning, I was deeply honoured to receive a visit at my residence from a group of respected Alhajis, who came to extend goodwill, prayers, and best wishes to me on the occasion of today’s Samampiid Festival.
I am sincerely grateful for this thoughtful gesture. Their visit is a strong symbol of unity, mutual respect, and our shared desire for peace and coexistence in Bawku and across Kusaug. Moments like this remind us that despite our differences in culture or faith, we remain one people with a common destiny.
As we celebrate Samampiid today, may we continue to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, embrace dialogue over division, and work together for lasting peace and development.
Thank you for the prayers, support, and encouragement.

I took time to personally inspect the grounds at Daduri School Park ahead of the 38th Annual Samampiid Festival celebration.
The atmosphere is already coming alive, and preparations are progressing steadily to ensure a safe, orderly, and memorable festival for all. As Municipal Chief Executive, it is important to me that everything is in place to welcome our chiefs, elders, invited guests, sons and daughters of Kusaug, and friends from across Ghana and beyond.

Samampiid is more than a festival. It is a celebration of our resilience, our culture, and our collective commitment to peace, unity, and development.

I therefore warmly invite everyone to come out in their numbers and be part of this historic celebration. Let us celebrate in peace, uphold our cherished traditions, and demonstrate to the nation that Kusaug stands for unity and coexistence.
Together, let us make this year’s Samampiid peaceful, colourful, and memorable.
You are all warmly invited.
God bless Bawku

Today marks a historic and deeply symbolic moment for Bawku and the entire Kusaug Traditional Area.
As part of activities marking the 38th Annual Samanpiid Festival, I had the honour of attending the official unveiling of the statue of the Zug-Raan of Kusaug, Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, a landmark constructed in honour of traditional authority, peace, and national unity.
The unveiling was performed by the Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Akamugri Donatus Atanga, in the company of key chiefs of the Kusaug Traditional Area, the DCE for Garu, the DCE for Pusiga, and other distinguished stakeholders. Their presence reflected the collective resolve of leadership at all levels to promote unity and stability in Kusaug.
I wish to specially commend the Ghana Armed Forces for their professionalism in delivering a monument that stands not only as a physical structure, but as a lasting symbol of heritage, leadership, and cohesion.
At this important moment, when Bawku is steadily rediscovering peace, the statue of Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II also represents hope, reconciliation, and a shared future built on respect and lawful coexistence.
As Municipal Chief Executive for Bawku, I am encouraged by the strong collaboration demonstrated through this project, between traditional authority, central government, local government, and the security services. This initiative strongly reflects the spirit of the Samanpiid Festival theme: Effective Enforcement of Law and Order as the Key to Sustainable Peace in Kusaug.
May this landmark inspire pride, unity, and responsible citizenship among present and future generations.
Together, we remain committed to building a peaceful, united, and progressive Bawku.
