NADMO KEEA Undertakes Drainage Desilting to Prevent Flooding at Komenda

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipal Office, has commenced the desilting and dredging of a major waterlogged drainage channel at Komenda as part of measures to reduce the risk of flooding in the community.

Using a heavy-duty excavator, the operation focused on clearing silt, overgrown vegetation, and other obstructions that have hindered the free flow of water, especially during the rainy season.

Speaking during the exercise, the Municipal Director of NADMO, Mr. Edward Akakpo Sortoh, said the intervention forms part of proactive measures to protect lives and property by improving drainage and minimizing the impact of floods. He urged residents to refrain from dumping refuse into drains and waterways, stressing that maintaining clean drainage systems is a shared responsibility.

The exercise demonstrates NADMO KEEA's commitment to disaster prevention and ensuring the safety and well-being of residents across the municipality.

KEEA Assembly, Edina Traditional Council Lead National Sanitation Day Clean-up in Elmina

The Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with the Edina Traditional Council, today organized a clean-up exercise across the principal streets of Elmina as part of the observance of National Sanitation Day.

The exercise brought together traditional leaders, assembly officials, security agencies, volunteers, and community members to improve environmental cleanliness and promote good sanitation practices.

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), KEEA Municipal Office, played a key role in the exercise by supporting coordination and mobilizing personnel to ensure its success.

The organisers commended all participants for their commitment and urged residents to maintain clean surroundings at all times to promote a healthy and safe environment.
