Heavy Rainstorm Displaces Thousands in KEEA Municipality; NADMO Conducts Assessment
A heavy rainstorm that swept through parts of the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem (KEEA) Municipality has displaced thousands of residents and caused extensive damage to homes and property.
The communities most affected by the disaster include Attabadze, Komenda, Essaman, Tererim, Gwira Akyinim, and Pershie, where strong winds and heavy rainfall ripped off roofing sheets, destroyed buildings, and left many families homeless.
In response to the situation, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), KEEA Municipal Office, swiftly deployed a team to assess the extent of the damage and provide the necessary support to affected residents.
The assessment exercise was led by the Municipal Director of NADMO, ACDCO Edward Akakpo Sortoh, together with his officers, who visited the affected communities to gather data and interact with victims.
Speaking during the assessment, ACDCO Edward Akakpo Sortoh assured residents that NADMO is committed to supporting affected households and working closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely assistance. He also advised residents to take precautionary measures during the rainy season and report any disaster-related incidents promptly to the authorities.
NADMO continues to monitor the situation while efforts are underway to compile a comprehensive report on the extent of the damage and the number of people affected.
