As part of efforts to ensure a peaceful and productive farming season, a crucial meeting was held with Fulani herdsmen operating around Hodzo and its enclaves. The meeting brought together community leaders, farmers, security personnel, and representatives of the herdsmen to discuss the growing concerns over cattle straying into farmlands and destroying crops.
The engagement focused on fostering mutual understanding and cooperation between farmers and herdsmen, recognizing the importance of both farming and livestock rearing to the local economy. Farmers expressed their concerns about recurring incidents where animals wandered into farms, causing damage to crops and creating tension within the communities.
In response, the Fulani herdsmen assured stakeholders of their commitment to controlling and properly guiding their animals to prevent them from entering farmlands. They pledged to intensify monitoring of their cattle, designate safer grazing routes, and work closely with community leaders to quickly resolve any issues that may arise.
The meeting also emphasized the need for peaceful coexistence, respect for one another’s livelihoods, and adherence to agreed guidelines. All parties acknowledged that maintaining harmony is essential for development and food security in the area.
The engagement ended on a positive note, with a shared commitment to ensuring that livestock activities do not disrupt farming operations during this crucial farming season around Hodzo and its surrounding communities.
