NEW JUABEN NORTH MUNICIPALITY KICKS OFF “TREE FOR LIFE” REFORESTATION INITIATIVE
As part of the Government’s 'Tree for Life'Reforestation Initiative, launched by the President to promote environmental sustainability and expand the Country’s green cover, the New Juaben North Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with NADMO Secretariat, officially commenced the implementation of the programme.
The exercise was led by the New Juaben North Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Adongo, together with the Municipal Director of NADMO Mr. Bright Asare Ofosu and officers from the NADMO Secretariat.
The first phase of the initiative focused on the Kasadjan Dual Carriage Highway, where the team carried out extensive environmental improvement activities, including:
* Clearing overgrown weeds along the median and inner lanes of the dual carriageway.
* Pruning ornamental flowers and shrubs to improve their health and appearance.
* Preparing designated areas for the replacement of dried and damaged ornamental plants.
* Enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the highway to create a cleaner, greener, and more welcoming environment.
The initiative demonstrates the Municipality’s commitment to environmental conservation, urban beautification, climate resilience, and the creation of healthy public spaces for residents and visitors.
The Municipal Chief Executive commended the dedication and commitment of the NADMO officers and encouraged the public to support the initiative by protecting and maintaining all trees and ornamental plants planted under the programme.
He stressed that environmental sustainability is a shared responsibility and called on residents to actively participate in keeping the Municipality clean and green.
The exercise will continue with the planting and replacement of ornamental trees and flowers along the Kasadjan Dual Carriage Highway and other strategic locations within the Municipality.
The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly and the Municipal NADMO Secretariat remain committed to ensuring the successful implementation of the Tree for Life Reforestation Initiative in support of national efforts to restore Ghana’s environment and promote sustainable development.
