NJNMA OBSERVES MENSTRUAL
HYGIENE DAY

The Municipal Chief Executive of the New Juaben North Municipal Assembly, Hon. Samuel Adongo, joined adolescent girls, women and members of the general public to observe Menstrual Hygiene Day aimed at creating awareness on the importance of proper menstrual hygiene management.

The program sought to educate participants on menstrual health, break the stigma surrounding menstruation and promote good hygiene practices among girls and women.

Health Professionals educated participants on the importance of using clean sanitary products, maintaining personal hygiene and seeking proper health support when necessary.

In an address, Hon Samuel Adongo, urged all stakeholders to work together to promote menstrual hygiene to end stigma surrounding menstruation.

He highlighted on some of the challenges many girls face, including lack of access to sanitary pads and inadequate hygiene facilities, which often affect their education.

The MCE re-affirmed the Government’s commitment through the free sanitary pad initiative and encouraged girls to remain confident and focused on their education.

He also called on parent, teachers and the community to support girls and announced the donation of sanitary pads and hygiene materials to schools in the Municipality.

Participants expressed appreciation to the MCE and the organizers for the initiative and called for more awareness programs to educate the public and help end the stigma associated with menstruation.

MUSLIM COMMUNITY PAYS COURTESY CALL ON MCE

The Asokore Muslim Community in the New Juaben North Municipality paid a courtesy call on the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Samuel Adongo, to express their appreciation for his continuous support and donations to the Community.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Abdul Kadiri Galadima, thanked the MCE for his generosity and commitment to the welfare of the Muslim Community.

In response, Hon. Samuel Adongo expressed gratitude for the visit and re-affirmed his commitment to promoting development and improving the lives of the Citizenry across the Municipality.

NEW JUABEN NORTH SUPPORTS PWDs

The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly, through its Social Welfare Department, has distributed business start-up packages and financial support to 85 persons with disabilities, PWDs in the New Juaben North Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The business start-up packages and financial support are to help improve the livelihoods of PWDs in the municipality. The gesture is in fulfillment of the government’s policy direction on the efficient utilization of the five percent disability component of the District Assemblies Common Fund, DACF referred to as the Disability Common Fund.

The packages include chest freezers, frozen chicken, bottled water and soft drinks, ice chest or cooler, corn-milling machines, electronic wheelchairs, 245 bags of charcoal and industrial sewing and knitting machines to aid their businesses according to their needs.

Those whose condition require financial assistance to go through surgeries, mental assistance, and to pay their hospital bills were also offered cash ranging from Two Thousand Five to Ten Thousand Ghanaian cedis.

NJNMA ASSEMBLY MEMBERS RECEIVE STREET LIGHTS

The New Juaben North Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Samuel Adongo has distributed one hundred and twenty (120) led street lights to thirty (30) Assembly Members.

The Chief Executive stressed the Assembly’s commitment to improve the security of his Municipality, hence the need to provide a lighting systems at all vantage points within their jurisdiction.

MCE emphasized that, he has put a lot of mechanisms in place to provide the people in the Municipality with all the needed security to boost economic growth.

He however, urged the general public to join hands to fight against crimes by giving correct information to the security agencies to act on them accordingly.

The Presiding Member for New Juaben North Municipal Assembly,Hon.Jacob Kwame Antwi thanked the MCE and the Assembly for such initiative and stated that he hopes this solves the issues of darkness within the Municipality.

Present was the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Anthony Kwenin Hon. Mohammed Fuseini and some Assembly Officials.

NJNMA SUPPORT PWDs

The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly has provided financial support to a sum of thirty thousand Ghana cedis (GH₵30,000) to two (2) Persons with Disability (PWDs) for their surgeries and medical treatment at the Roman Hospital.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon.Samuel Adongo presenting the cash support stated that this comes as a result of the Assembly’s commitment to Person with Disability.

Mr. Davis Yaw Adamtey from Oyoko, received a cash sum of GH₵20,000 and Miss Truth Afia Aidoo also from Asokore also received GH₵10,000.

Presenting the donations, officials of the Assembly expressed sympathy to the beneficiaries and wished them speedy recovery.

The Beneficiaries and their families expressed gratitude to the Assembly for their timely intervention.

The support demonstrates the Assembly’s dedication to the welfare of residents and its continuous effort to provide relief to vulnerable individuals within the Municipality.

DANGEROUS TREES ALONG THE SUHYEN–TAFO MAIN ROAD HAVE BEEN CUT DOWN BY NADMO IN THE NEW JUABEN NORTH MUNICIPALITY

Some trees along the Suhyen to Tafo main road were identified as dangerous and posing serious threats to moving vehicles, pedestrians, and residents living close to the affected areas, especially during this rainy season.

These trees were identified through the periodic monitoring of New Juaben North Municipal NADMO,

Due to the possible risk of accidents and destruction, immediate action became necessary.

On Friday, 22nd May 2026, The Operation team of NADMO,spearheaded by the Municipal Director Mr Bright Asare Ofosu, in collaboration with the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, Assembly Member ,Hon. Sarpong Kumankumah and his Unit Committee Members, organized an operation to cut down the dangerous trees.

To ensure the successful ex*****on of the exercise, Chainsaw Operators were deployed to assist in cutting down and clearing of the affected trees.

The operation required the temporary closure of the Suhyen–Tafo main road to ensure safety during the exercise.

Vehicular movement was therefore diverted through alternative routes within Suhyen township throughout the period of the operation.

The MTTD Personnel managed traffic effectively and ensured that both motorists and pedestrians complied with the temporary road diversion arrangements.

The exercise was successfully conducted without any major incident. All identified dangerous trees were cut and cleared from the road corridor. Normal traffic flow was restored immediately after the exercise, ensuring clear and safe access for road users and residents.

The collaboration between NADMO New Juaben North, the Ghana Police Service MTTD,the Assembly Memner, Unit Committee Members of Suhyen and the Chainsaw Operators helped to avert possible disasters that could have resulted from falling trees during the rainy season.

The exercise contributed greatly to public safety and ensured the protection of lives and property along the Suhyen–Tafo main road.

THE NEW JUABEN NORTH MUNICIPAL NADMO EMBARKED ON DEMOLITION OF DILAPIDATED STRUCTURES AT OYOKO AND ASOKORE

The New Juaben North Municipal Directorate of the National Disaster Management Organisation in collaboration with the Municipal Assembly successfully carried out a demolition exercise on dangerous and dilapidated buildings at Oyoko and Asokore on Wednesday, 6th May 2026 and Thursday, 7th May 2026 respectively.

The exercise formed part of the Directorate’s disaster risk reduction and prevention measures aimed at safeguarding lives and property within the Municipality. Following a hazard identification and assessment exercise conducted last year, the office identified a number of weak and abandoned structures that posed serious threats to residents and surrounding properties.

Subsequently, owners of the affected properties were duly engaged and sensitized on the dangers associated with the structures, including the potential risk of collapse, injuries, fatalities, and environmental hazards. The property owners willingly cooperated with the Directorate and signed undertakings consenting to the demolition of the affected buildings by NADMO.

After all necessary stakeholder engagements and safety procedures were completed, the demolition exercise was successfully undertaken on Wednesday, 6th May 2026 at Oyoko and on Thursday, 7th May 2026 at Asokore without any major incident.

Residents and neighboring community members expressed appreciation and satisfaction with the exercise, commending the Directorate for taking proactive steps to protect lives and prevent possible disasters within the Municipality.

PRESIDENT CUTS SOD FOR MULTIPURPOSE AND HOSTEL AT SDA COLLEGE OF EDUCATION

The President of Ghana, his Excellency John Dramani Mahama, has performed a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of multipurpose hall and hostel at the SDA College of Education, marking the official commencement of the project.

The initiative forms part of efforts to improve infrastructure and enhance teaching and learning conditions within the institution.

The proposed facilities are expected to provide accommodation for students and create a suitable space for academic and social activities.

This development will help address challenges related to inadequate infrastructure and support the growing student population.

Speaking at the ceremony, the President emphasized that the Government is commitmented to invest in education and ensure that institutions are well-equipped to deliver quality training.

He noted that the project would contribute significantly to the development of the college and the nation at large.
The Management of the college and Students expressed their appreciation for the intervention, describing it as timely and beneficial.

The project is expected to boost academic activities and improve student welfare upon completion.
