NJNMA OBSERVES MENSTRUAL
HYGIENE DAY
The Municipal Chief Executive of the New Juaben North Municipal Assembly, Hon. Samuel Adongo, joined adolescent girls, women and members of the general public to observe Menstrual Hygiene Day aimed at creating awareness on the importance of proper menstrual hygiene management.
The program sought to educate participants on menstrual health, break the stigma surrounding menstruation and promote good hygiene practices among girls and women.
Health Professionals educated participants on the importance of using clean sanitary products, maintaining personal hygiene and seeking proper health support when necessary.
In an address, Hon Samuel Adongo, urged all stakeholders to work together to promote menstrual hygiene to end stigma surrounding menstruation.
He highlighted on some of the challenges many girls face, including lack of access to sanitary pads and inadequate hygiene facilities, which often affect their education.
The MCE re-affirmed the Government’s commitment through the free sanitary pad initiative and encouraged girls to remain confident and focused on their education.
He also called on parent, teachers and the community to support girls and announced the donation of sanitary pads and hygiene materials to schools in the Municipality.
Participants expressed appreciation to the MCE and the organizers for the initiative and called for more awareness programs to educate the public and help end the stigma associated with menstruation.
