The primary functions of the PRCC include:
1. Public Education and Sensitization
Inform the Public: Educate citizens on the ongoing activities, projects, and developmental plans of the District Assembly.
Community Engagement: Host public forums, community gatherings, and radio sensitizations to outline the specific roles of local assembly members and departments.
2. Promoting Accountability and Transparency
Good Governance: Foster a culture of transparency, probity, and accountability in all dealings between the Assembly and the general public.
Rebuilding Trust: Offer a direct platform for residents to channel concerns, thus fostering participatory governance.
3. Investigating Complaints and Grievances
Misconduct Allegations: Investigate complaints regarding the conduct or poor performance of the District Chief Executive (DCE/MCE), assembly members, or assembly staff.
Administrative Injustice: Address claims of abuse, misuse of office, or violations of fundamental human rights by any local government official.
Mediation: Act as mediators and arbiters for petitions filed by citizens to ensure amicable resolutions.
4. Statutory Duty Evaluation
Performance Checks: Investigate allegations where a person or department fails to discharge their statutory duties or corporate responsibilities.
Note: The PRCC does not have jurisdiction over matters that are already pending in a formal court of law or before the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).
How to Submit a Complaint;
If you have a grievance within your district, complaints are typically channeled through the Client Service Unit of your local District Assembly and addressed to the Presiding Member (PM).
