The Kumasi Traditional Council convened on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the Manhyia Palace.

Presided over by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, the council received the ‘dibim’ from the Asafohene and one faction in the Abrade dispute. It also witnessed the referral of a dispute involving Mpasaaso No. 2 to a committee.

Other cases that featured on the agenda included Wirempe, Aboabogya and Baworo.

The Head of the Local Government Service, Prof. Lord Mensah, introduced Chief Directors who also serve as Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) Directors to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, at the Manhyia Palace on August 5, 2026.

The delegation included Felicia Dapaah Boakye, Chief Director of the Local Government Service; Lawyer Owusu Amoah, Chief Director of the Ashanti RCC; Jemima Lomotey of the Western North RCC; and S.S. Agbeve of the Oti RCC.

Other members were Rachel Fosua of the Western RCC; Alhaji Avona Mohammed Akape of the Volta RCC; and Rev. Dr. Harry Kwatei Owoo of the Greater Accra RCC.

Otumfuo offered his blessings to the delegation.

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on August 5, 2026, received a delegation from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Christian Agyare, at the Manhyia Palace.

The visit was to formally convey the VC’s gratitude following his investiture over the weekend.

The KNUST delegation also included Mr Benjamin Owusu Boampong, Registrar; Dr Charles Nsiah, Finance Officer; and Dr Daniel Norris Bekoe, University Relations Officer.

Nana Akyaamaa III was introduced to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, and Nana Yaa Akyaa II, the Asantehemaa, as Oheneni, the Asantehene’s traditional mother on August 4, 2026, at the Manhyia Palace.

The introduction was done by a delegation led by Oheneyere Akosua Serwaa Oheneafrewo, Ayigyahemaa, who also serves as Hiahene.

Other members of the delegation included Nana Gyamfi Kumanin II, Pampasohene; Nana Wadie Assim, Wadie Adwumakasehene; Nana Ahenkro Sei Poku IV, Ahenkrohene; and Nana Kwatemaa Nyiano Ababio, Wadie Adwumakasehemaa.

Incident: The Chief of Asafo, Akyamfuo Asafo Boakye Agyemang-Bonsu, illegally enstooled a Dikrohene for Tabere, despite the stool being under injunction due to a pending Great Oath case.

𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: On August 3, 2026, the Kumasi Traditional Council, presided over by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, confirmed his actions as defiance.

𝐀𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: The Asafohene admitted he had not cancelled the enstoolment even after being cautioned by a committee.

𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Initially fined 12 rams, the penalty was reduced to 6 rams after a plea.

𝐎𝐭𝐮𝐦𝐟𝐮𝐨’𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐤𝐞: The Asantehene criticized the chief, stating: “You should have cancelled the enstoolment after the committee drew your attention to it.”

𝐎𝐰𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝: On August 3, 2026, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II ruled that the Abrade Stool belongs to the Asona Royal Clan, not the Oyoko.

𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: The Asantehene met privately with the Oyoko side since the matter involved his uncle’s family, Otumfuo Agyemang Prempeh.

𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐬: He explained that his uncle had appointed his wife to the female stool, and her descendants have occupied it since.

𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Otumfuo urged the Asona clan to be patient, assuring them that once the current queenmother passes, the stool will revert to them permanently.

𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐝: A related boundary issue raised by Nana Saasi Ayeboafo II, Mampongtenghene, was resolved, with Otumfuo clarifying that the Owabe River separates the territories.
