Effutu Libraries

Effutu Libraries Effutu municipal library, formerly known as Winneba branch library was established in 1974.

With 14 public libraries located in different communities, the Effutu libraries offer quality educational programs for the public and connect every community member to knowledge resources. Its first location was Adanse ( effutu traditional council) then in January 1997 relocated to Abasraba (suflet house). November 2020, an ultra modern library was constructed with the assistance of the Mp, hon Af

enyo markins and the library relocated to it's new premises at Abasraba next to Suflet house. Facilities available in the new building are a conference room, an executive lounge, technology and innovation hub, an adult library with lending and reference services, children's library with lending and reference services , children's corner ( a room made for nursery and kindergarten children), washrooms and offices. The library is well stocked with books from all subject areas for adults and juveniles. Currently Effutu municipality has 10 community libraries that can be located at different community

We celebrated the Ghana month with a program dubbed "Ghana: our culture our heritage "
Chiefs and elders of various communities told the history of the communities of Effutu and Ghana to the school children amidst poetry recitals, drama, drumming and dancing.. This program aims at instilling patriotism and cultural values in the children as they are given in-depth knowledge.

Hundreds of children trooped in to the Effutu Library from 20th to 23rd December to celebrate Christmas at Library. A program dubbed Santa in the library was used to engage children in series of activities like picture colouring, musical chairs, reading and spelling bee amongst others. Gifts were given to children who took part in the various activities. The children were excited and asked for an extension of the program to the rest of the year.

Effutu Libraries in collaboration with Project Ten organised a reading activity for Children of the Atakyedu M/A School at the Nana Amponsah library, Atakyedu. This program introduced the children to different methods of reading and enhanced their reading skills.

The Hands-on Mobile ICT service has been initiated in Effutu libraries beginning with New Winneba basic school. With this service, a team of IT staff from the library visits schools with 20 laptop computers with educational software installed to support practical ICT lessons in the classrooms.

This is an innovative strategy for the library to reach more remote schools that do not have computers and electricity to enhance ICT education. Some students, teachers and parents have already expressed excitement about this initiative.

President Akufo-Addo Commissions Dzagada Afadzinu Library.
President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday, October 19th commissioned the Dzagada Afadzinu Library at Effutu Municipality.
The library was built by the Member of Parliament for Effutu, Hon. Afenyo-Markin at Akosua Village and handed over to the Ghana Library Authority.
It has an Adult, Juvenile and I. C. T section which is ready to connect the community to knowledge resources.
